We were lucky enough to participate in the chalk art happening on Broadway Island next to Yale!

Our team had the chance to see so many amazing pieces of artwork throughout the area and enjoy a creative experience right here in our New Haven community. We love opportunities like these that bring people together through art and self-expression!

We’re already missing our weekly beach trips! There’s nothing like the fresh ocean air, sunshine, and time spent making memories together.

While we say goodbye to beach days for now, we’re looking forward to all the fun fall activities and outings coming up at PFTL! 🍂🎃

Mental health is more than a conversation for one day. It’s part of everyday life, and everyone deserves support, understanding, and the opportunity to grow.

Our shell-making group has been having so much fun getting creative together!

The group has been hand-painting seashells that will be available for purchase at this year’s Arts in Action show. We love these groups because they’re about so much more than the activity itself; they’re about bringing people together, sharing some laughs, trying something new, and creating something together.

And this project has a special connection to Shauna.

Fun fact: Shauna went to school in Newport, Rhode Island, and these seashells came from Newport, too! It’s a small but meaningful connection that makes these pieces even more special as we continue to honor her legacy through art.

We can’t wait for everyone to see what the group has created! 🐚🎨

Tune in!

We were honored to welcome Strum by the Sound to Parents’ Foundation for a special musical experience! ❤️ Our residents absolutely loved participating, enjoying the music, and sharing in the joy that comes from making connections through music.

Strum by the Sound is a nonprofit that brings the gift of music to those who need it most through donated instruments, music lessons, and compassionate outreach. Their mission to create connection, uplift others, and bring joy through music is something truly special.

We’re so grateful they spent time with our community and reminded us just how powerful music can be in bringing people together!

Parents’ Foundation for Transitional Living is proud to partner with The Junkluggers of New Haven County and Remix Market of New Haven County!

Led by Owner and President Gustavo Mesa, The Junkluggers is committed to giving usable furniture and household items a second life through donation, recycling, and resale, while giving back to the communities they serve.

We’re grateful to connect with local businesses that believe in supporting people, strengthening our community, and making a difference beyond their own doors.

New Partnership Spotlight: Heart Center Home Organizing

Home is more than where you live; it’s how a space feels.

We’re excited to partner with Heart Center Home Organizing to help us thoughtfully organize and improve the spaces throughout Parents’ Foundation, including resident rooms, storage areas, offices, and more.

When you’re working with the space you have, having someone who dedicates their professional life to creating organized, functional, welcoming spaces can make all the difference.

We’re looking forward to creating spaces that feel more comfortable, purposeful, and like home for our residents and staff.

A simple activity with a meaningful reminder.

During a recent group, residents created their own sticky-note affirmations to hang up around their space. Each note offered a positive message, word of encouragement, or personal reminder to carry with them throughout the day.

These small moments of reflection and encouragement are part of everyday life at Parents’ Foundation, creating opportunities for residents to build confidence, support one another, and celebrate their own strengths.

Sometimes, we all need a little reminder of how far we’ve come and to keep moving forward.
