Sunday morning’s half marathon in Cheshire, carved along the winding canal and over rolling hills. Each climb was a test of will, each mile a step further from the long shadow of winter.
The spoils told the tale of a battle well fought: a victory claimed in the women’s open race, a hard-fought second place in the men’s, and the Masters crown seized on the men’s side
Highlights:
• Jake Jayworth .jayworth – 2nd overall, 1:12:22. A legend of the road and true super dad, steady and unshaken from start to finish
• Andie Condie – 1st overall female, 1:17:18 PR. The captain, leading from the front, delivering a breakthrough performance alongside friends.
• Miche Palmer – 1st non-binary, 1:29:31. Running with grit and purpose, holding strong from start to finish and making their mark on the day

This was only the second race of the season, yet already the signs are clear: the long winter has passed, and with it, hesitation. What lies ahead is speed, fire, and the unfolding of something greater. Next up we head to a ‘lil ‘ole street named Spring for a fast mile…

Today we started our usual summit run with a moment of reflection and a call to preserve.

Before we climbed East Rock, Miche () read a Land Acknowledgement honoring the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Quinnipiac, Paugussett, and Wappinger peoples.

Running these trails is most certainly a privilege. Today we paused to recognize the history of the land beneath our feet and the communities who have stewarded it long before us and continue to do so today.

🚨MOST WANTED: TEAMMATE🚨

This runner has been reported missing from the NHRR Racing Team. Last seen saying things like “I don’t think I’m fast enough” or “maybe next season.”

The NHRR Racing Team competes in the USATF-CT Road Grand Prix, an eight-race circuit that runs across the year, from a winter five-mile to a fall 10K, with distances ranging from the mile to the half marathon. Team results are based on total team time, so showing up, finishing, and contributing across races matters. Consistency across the season often matters more than any single performance.

You don’t have to race every race.
You don’t have to be elite.
You do help the team by showing up — whether you race one event, a few, or support from the sidelines.

Swipe to see all eight circuit races for 2026.
Interested in racing? We will help you choose a race.
Interested in cheering? We need you just as much.

If found, please report to the start line or the cheer squad.

Over the last 10 days, we counted down to the New Year by looking back at everything we shared and accomplished together, and wow, we did a lot.

From circuit races and track meets to trash pick-ups, BBQs, book club, and weekend long runs with friends, we showed up, we connected, and we built community.

As we step into 2026, we are excited to keep building, growing, and showing up together. There is so much to look forward to, with several events right around the corner. To highlight a few:

• January 12th: The first meeting of the season for our racing team. Come join the conversation and learn what our race team is all about. ➡️Join Racing Team Information Session https://www.heylo.com/invite/7298521b-32bb-4149-a15f-df67fd10c899

• January 25th brings our first circuit race and 5 miler of the year, Winter Wonderland. ➡️Join Winter Wonderland 5 Miler (Circuit Race #1) https://www.heylo.com/invite/fa55e5b1-3fb6-4bf2-b7ec-8fd51d078a66

Alongside these events, we have our weekly standing runs, including fun runs, speed workouts, and coordinated long runs through Heylo. Our winter schedule is pinned on our Instagram for easy reference.

And remember, if racing is not your thing but running is, do not be intimidated. We do so much more than race. Did you miss the last 10 days where we talked about fun runs, social events, and community gatherings? However, if racing is your thing, come join us and let’s get faster together.

As a running club, we want to wish you a Happy New Year. Whether you are a familiar face who shows up week after week or someone passing through for a short time, you are welcome here.

We cannot wait to make more memories and miles together this year. Come hang out and let’s RUN NEW HAVEN!

Day 1 of our countdown is all about growth and milestones.

This year, our club grew to 388 members, and with that growth came new ways to stay connected. We started using , helping us stay more organized, be more inclusive, and track some fun stats along the way.

One member led the pack with 92 check-ins this year. Think you know who it is? No cheating.

Our most attended event on Heylo was the Summer BBQ, though we know many more people joined who did not log their attendance.

If you have not joined us on Heylo yet, consider this your official invitation. It is the best way to stay connected, get involved, and not miss upcoming events and opportunities.

On Day 2 of the countdown, we are highlighting two annual New Haven races as well as showcasing one of our favorite local spots. While not on our normal circuit races, both the Iris 5k and Christopher Martin’s 5k have been a tradition for years.  The Iris 5k happens every February and supports IRIS’s services for immigrants and refugees. The Christopher Martin’s 5k is held annually in December with a toy drive, many runners in costume and huge after party! This year, there was a record attendance from the NHRR. Lastly, we pay homage to our beautiful East Rock park which is the start of many routes for our members, and of course, the home to our weekly summit run on Thursdays.

We are all so grateful to run in this wonderful city!
