The Hoosier Association for Behavior Analysis (HABA) recently brought to our attention proposed shifts in the Indiana Medicaid insurance rates for 2024. These proposed rates, if accepted, would be markedly lower than our current benchmarks. We assure you that Grateful Care is fully equipped to weather these changes and will continue to provide excellent services. However, our concerns are for the thousands of other kiddos receiving ABA services elsewhere in the state. This rate reduction translates to a tangible and alarming threat: families across the entirety of Indiana might lose access to invaluable ABA services. The ramifications would be felt in every corner of our state, both urban and rural. Families who have waited years for services and who are on the cusp of receiving the help they need, may again find their needs unmet (and permanently unmet).
With a rapidly closing window that concludes on August 21, we need to act.
HABA suggests a two-pronged strategy for action for families:
1. Strengthen Indiana ACT for Families: Lend your voice by joining this pivotal group, showing the unity and widespread demand for ABA therapy across Indiana.

2. Engage with State Leaders: Draft a quick letter to your Congressman or Senator, driving home the significance and necessity of ABA services for Indiana's families.
As history has shown, the collective voice of families carries considerable influence. Attached is an example from HABA.
It's crucial to remember that Indiana's proud history of securing ABA services was rooted in collective action. In 2001, it was the concerted voice of Hoosier families that brought about insurance coverage for ABA not just within our borders, but nationwide. We're now at another pivotal moment, with the well-being of countless children across the state hanging in the balance.
Your involvement is not just appreciated—it's indispensable. Together, let's ensure the continuation of quality ABA services for every Indiana family in need.
