This is my LEGO model of the Ishtar Gate, which is currently housed at the Pergamon Museum in Germany. The original Ishtar Gate was a monumental gate to the inn…

Thank you to everyone who made today’s Assyrian New Year Celebration at the Yale Peabody Museum Babylonian Collection possible.

The Yale graduate students who led guided tours of the collection demonstrated remarkable dedication, highlighting the value of a hands-on experience at a teaching institution. It was also inspiring to witness our young dancers participating in workshops led by Nadin Razoki, the Assyrian Youth Federation's Eastern Regional Director and a professional dance preservationist. We will cherish the memories of visitors, Yale staff, and students all joining together in our traditional khigga dance and music.

Dr. Eckart Frahm’s talk on New Year Celebrations in Ancient Mesopotamia was both informative and thoroughly enjoyed. Additionally, we are so grateful to Drs. Agnete Lassen and Gojko Barjamovic for the year round welcome to our group and for your continued help in planning and preserving the collection with such utmost care.
Happy Assyrian New Year!

On behalf of the Assyrian American National Federation, we proudly celebrate the Assyrian New Year 6776.

For thousands of years, our people have welcomed this new year as a symbol of renewal, resilience, and the enduring strength of our heritage. Rooted in the legacy of our ancestors, this day reminds us of who we are, where we come from, and the responsibility we carry to preserve and uplift our culture for generations to come.

As we mark this historic occasion, we honor the rich traditions, language, and spirit of the Assyrian people across the world. May this new year bring unity, peace, and continued prosperity to our community.
