“Anybody trying to organize a union or win a contract in the next four years isn’t going to get any protection from the federal government,” said Carla Vallati, a room attendant at the Omni New Haven. “SB 8 is the best thing we can do to encourage the employers to play fair. I say to you, Gov. Lamont: We are facing a crisis. Are you taking it seriously, sir?”

Supporters of unemployment benefits for striking workers still hope the governor will change his mind on the issue.
