The Gateway Community College Foundation, Inc., incorporated in 1993, is a non-profit organization whose
sole purpose is to support Gateway Community College
and its mission.

Its Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers from Greater New Haven’s business, education, government and health care sectors who generously donate their time and expertise to supp

ort Gateway Community College through fundraising, scholarship selection and other volunteer activities. Money raised by the Foundation funds student scholarships, helps purchase state-of-the-art classroom equipment and materials and provides professional development opportunities for college educators and personnel. The Gateway Community College Foundation helps build a network of community support and promotes better public understanding of the College as a significant regional resource and a means of providing and promoting educational opportunity and career advancement.

The 2026 Donor Scholar was filled with meaningful moments of connection, celebration, and gratitude.

While the evening celebrates the students whose hard work has earned scholarship support, it is also an opportunity to bring together the people behind those opportunities. Students have the chance to connect with fellow scholars, meet the donors who believe in their potential, and hear from alumni who once sat in their seats and have since gone on to build their success.

These stories serve as a powerful reminder that education can open doors, and that a community of supporters stands ready to help students reach their goals.

For donors, the evening offers something equally meaningful: the opportunity to meet the students whose lives they are helping to shape. Hearing firsthand how scholarship support is making a difference transforms generosity into something deeply personal.

More than a celebration, the Donor Scholar is a reminder of what is possible when opportunity, determination, and philanthropy come together.

Join us on Thursday, 5/14 from 3–5 PM in Café Vincenzo for the release of The Sweet‑quel! 🎉

Created by CT State Gateway’s Culinary Club in collaboration with Graphic Design Capstone students, this cookbook celebrates student creativity while supporting scholarship opportunities.
Guests will have the chance to sample recipes, meet the student creators, and pick up a copy of the new book.

Thanks to your support, the first cookbook "Sweeter by the Dozen" sold 267 copies, funding three $500 scholarships and providing royalties to student contributors. The Sweet‑quel builds on that success with 12 original student recipes, and at least 25% of proceeds will support next year’s scholarship fund.

Jeffrey has lived through addiction and fought his way back.

Now, as a student in the Addiction Studies & Counseling program at CT State Gateway, he’s preparing to help others do the same.

With support from a Gateway Community College Foundation scholarship, made possible by the Branford Rotary Club, he’s able to keep moving forward.
