It’s always a great day to advocate for the future of agriculture!

On Wednesday, Alexis and Jadyn visited Capitol Hill to speak with Representatives and Senators about the future of agriculture and how we can advocate not only for our state, but our national organization as well!

We would love to thank Erica Custodia (Legislative Correspondent for Representative Becca Balint), Davan Reece (Legislative Correspondent for Senator Bernie Sanders), Evelyn Vivar (Legislative Assistant for Senator Peter Welch), Darryl Alexander (Legislative Assistant for Senator Peter Welch), and Liam Fagan (Legislative Assistant for Senator Bernie Sanders) for the amazing experience and welcoming us into the office!

We were fortunate enough to get professional photos taken with Senator Peter Welch, unfortunately we did not have much time to speak with him as he had a committee meeting that was in need of his attendance, but nonetheless, we’re grateful to have met him! We also had the experience to speak directly with Senator Bernie Sanders about how we should distribute funding for CTE programs and some struggles we see regarding low FFA memberships.

Did you know the Arlington National Cemetery holds approximately 430,000 fallen soldiers who had fought for our freedom?!?

Yesterday, your State Officers had the honor to visit the cemetery where not only loved ones lay to rest, but individuals who will forever be remembered to have fought with bravery, selflessness, and dedication to the USA’s freedom.

We would like to thank our tour guides for providing us with an amazing learning experience, and giving us the opportunity to watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Last month, your state officers traveled to UMaine to participate in the New England State Officer Checkpoint 1. Here, we learned about communication skills, approachability, and how to create workshops. We built relationships with our fellow new England Officers that will last for a lifetime!
Thank you to all of the New England State staff, as well as UMaine and Maine FFA for hosting us. Especially thank you to John, for being dedicated to the growth of our team and the creation of long lasting memories.

Welcome in the 2026-2027 VT FFA Association Officer team! We kicked off our year strong with a Base Camp facilitated by Brooks Hetle. During this short time, we learned how to use our personal strengths to work as a team, how to engage with our members, and how to build strong and positive perceptions from our members.

That's a wrap on the 98th Vermont State FFA Convention! We had an amazing 2 days with members competing, learning from each other and industry professionals, and meeting new people! We hope that you all had fun and are excited for next year!

The countdown to State Convention starts! There are just 3 days left till members, advisors, and guests will be welcomed into Saint Michael’s to compete in events, meet new friends, bond with a National Officer, and hear from State Officers about achievements and lessons learned!
