Summer camp may be over, but the excitement continues! 🎒📚
As students settle into the new school year, BGCGNH is also kicking off another season of after-school programming designed to support kids and teens beyond the school day.

The reality is that many children and teens do not have a safe, accessible place to go after school. That’s why creating convenient, high-quality after-school opportunities is so important for young people and their families.

BGCGNH is proud to partner with New Haven Public Schools to help close the gap between kids and after-school programs. Through on-site BGCGNH after-school programming, we’re bringing enriching experiences, supportive adults, learning opportunities, and a safe place to belong closer to where kids already are—their schools. 💙

As we move from summer fun into the school-year routine, we’re excited to be there for New Haven youth every step of the way.

🌟 What a week at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Haven! 🌟

👀 August 10 – See Your Impact in Action Tours
We officially launched our See Your Impact in Action Tours, welcoming our incredible sponsors and donors to visit our New Haven and Wallingford Clubhouses. These tours give our partners the opportunity to see firsthand how their generosity, support, and continued commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of our kids and families.

🕊️ August 13 – Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run
We were honored to be a stop on the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, a global celebration of peace. As the runners travel across the country in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, they stopped by our Club to speak with our kids about what peace means to them. We were also excited to welcome New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker for this special visit!

🎉 August 14 – A Day of Celebration & Opportunity
Our team had an especially busy and exciting Friday! We were honored to receive a grant through 7-Eleven’s Project A-Game, supporting opportunities for young people in our community. The celebration also marked the opening of North Haven’s first 7-Eleven!

Back in New Haven, our Director of Operations and Programs joined Mayor Elicker, Superintendent Madeline Negrón, New Haven Counts Athletic Director Arthur Hayes, and our Director of Programs & Operations Asadie Walters, shared more about the expanded and re-established New Haven after-school initiative. Beginning September 9, 2026, the initiative will bring on-site after-school programming to select New Haven elementary schools, creating even more opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and thrive.

We are incredibly grateful to every donor, sponsor, community leader, partner, staff member, and supporter who continues to believe in our mission. When our community comes together, our kids win. 💙

🌎💙 Happy International Youth Day! 💙🌎

Today, we're celebrating the incredible young people who are already making a difference in their communities.

On Monday, our Counselors in Training (CITs) proudly presented community service projects designed to address real needs in New Haven, North Haven, and Wallingford. Throughout the summer, these future leaders identified challenges in their communities and developed thoughtful solutions to create positive change.

Their projects included:
🌳 Organizing local park and neighborhood cleanups
🏠 Beautifying areas surrounding our Clubhouses
🧘 Creating dedicated spaces where young campers can emotionally regulate and recharge
📣 Developing strategies to strengthen community outreach and remind families that Boys & Girls Clubs is here to support them
💡 And many more innovative ideas focused on service, inclusion, and community impact

These presentations showcased not only creativity and teamwork, but also a deep commitment to helping others. Our CITs demonstrated that leadership isn't about age, it's about taking initiative, caring for your community, and having the courage to make a difference.

From our youngest campers to our future counselors and community leaders, we continue to be inspired by the passion, intelligence, and compassion of the youth we serve every day.

On this International Youth Day, we celebrate the voices, ideas, and potential of young people everywhere. We are proud of our CITs and can't wait to see what the future holds for each of them. ✨
