With the summer season fast approaching, we'd like to take a moment to remind you that there are many great programs taking place at Camp Workcoeman this Spring!!

April 11 is our Crafts and Trades merit badge day, April 25 is our Cub Scout Covered Wagon Derby, and May 17-19 is the Semiquincentennial Camporee celebrating the 250th Anniversary of American Independence 🇺🇸 which will likely be the largest event ever in the history of Camp Workcoeman!

This is a great time to remind our scouting families that Alumni Association camperships are not limited to just our summertime programs - we want to make sure that these Spring program opportunities are available for all who want to participate.

If your scout (or if you know of a scout in your unit) wants to join us for a legendary Scouting experience but the cost of participating may be a barrier, please send us a direct message on this platform - we would love to work with you to ensure that all scouts who want to attend Camp Workcoeman are able to! All inquiries will remain confidential and you will be contacted directly by a member of our association's executive board.

The Camp Workcoeman Alumni Association is honored to have received a donation in memory of long-time Scouter Jim Byrd. Throughout his longtime tenure in scouting, Mr. Byrd shared a love of cooking, fellowship and friendship with all of those he worked with. We look forward to carrying on these virtues to the next generation of scouts who will be able to attend Camp Workcoeman!

We are thankful to all those who contributed to our organization in Nurse Wanda's memory....donor contributions, in her memory, will assist scouting families in need to ensure their scouts get to have the Workcoeman experience! Her legacy will continue along the shores of West Hill Lake for generations to come

Our camp community is heartbroken to share that we have lost one of our own. Nurse Wanda was truly an "Alumni" as she served our camp and the scouting community for many years. She was truly one of a kind, and left an indelible mark on the camp community that we have today.

On behalf of all of us at the Camp Workcoeman Alumni Association, thank you for supporting our scouting families. And thank you Wanda for all that you gave to the Scouting movement.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Wanda McKeon, RN. Wanda served as the camp nurse at Camp Workcoeman from 1996 to 2004 and was a dedicated volunteer in our Scouting community. She served as a Den Leader with Pack 1 and as a Committee Member and Merit Badge Counselor with Troop 1 in Torrington, where her sons, Connor and Michael, both earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Wanda’s professionalism as a healthcare provider and her tireless dedication to Scouting and Camp Workcoeman earned her the genuine respect of countless Scouts and Scouters she met along the Scouting trail. Anyone who was part of camp during that time remembers “Nurse Wanda,” and her memory will forever bring a smile to us all.

The Camp Workcoeman Alumni Association Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to supporting Scouts attending programs at Camp Workcoeman. 100% of all donations are dedicated to campership awards that help Scouts in need attend programs. In 2024, the camp's 100th anniversary, over $6,000 was distributed to get Scouts to camp. In 2025, more than $4,000 has already been awarded. Contributions of any amount are sincerely appreciated and will be put to good use.

Fun fact!! Four scouts from our immediate scouting community are participating in Camp Workcoeman's Day Camp program this week because of the generosity of our supporters!!

Here is some uplifting "Good News" on a hot and sweaty Tuesday...the Camp Workcoeman summer camp season is well underway, and the Camp Workcoeman Alumni Association has awarded over $2,000 in camperships to ensure that over a dozen scouts this summer will be able to experience everything that Camp Workcoeman has to offer!!

Recipients of camperships will be participating in Cub Scout Day Camp, Workcoeman's National Youth Leadership Training course, our unique Leadership Development Camp, and a variety of Scouts BSA advancement oriented programs.

Our mission has always been to make the opportunity to participate in programs at Camp Workcoeman accessable to all, and that a family's ability to pay should never be a barrier to Scouting.

The 2025 season is off to a great start - and we've only just begun...

This piece will be available to bid on throughout today's Centennial Celebration, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Camp Workcoeman Alumni Association's mission to make the camp experience possible for all scouts.

Today, we received the following message from a parent whose Scout was awarded a needs-based campership from the CW Alumni Association:

"Thank you so much! My son is so excited to be able to go to camp. Simply put, without your support it wouldn't be possible. He loves Scouts so much and I know it would have been devastating to tell him he couldn't go. Times have been really tough for our family recently, and I'm so happy for him that he'll have a great week with you all at Camp Workcoeman".

This is what it's all about folks! Every kid who loves scouting should be able to experience all that Camp Workcoeman has to offer.
