Meet Olga Tymoshchuk, our 2026-27 Resident who just arrived last week and getting settled. She is already busy making new work and friends. Stay tuned for more information about her project and lecture coming up!
"Olga Tymoshchuk’s formative years were during the turbulent early years of Ukrainian independence. She moved to the U.S.A. in 2013 when Russian influence started threatening Ukrainian sovereignty and independence. She first began working with clay in 2015 at Ohlone College in California and soon developed a strong commitment to the medium. She graduated with an MFA in Studio Art from Sacramento State in Spring 2026."

Meet Ben Clarkson, one of three Residents currently working in the clay studio. Stay tuned for details about his work and his lecture at WMI!
"I'm interested in the idea of a captured moment. Something precious that has passed beyond reach and survives only in memory. As we remember, what happened becomes something new. Shapes are distorted and then refined, while color and texture are muted or enhanced. It's this distortion and the feeling of a moment just out of reach that inspires my art.

My work draws on the forms of seed pods, fruit, shells, and other organic structures to create imagined moments suspended between growth and transformation. Like a single frame extracted from a time lapse, each sculpture suggests a larger process unfolding beyond what can be seen. Informed by the instability of memory, these forms act as unreliable accounts of experiences, occupying a space between observation, recollection, and invention."

Our 2026-27 Residency Program is in full swing! Meet Sam Wilson. He arrived last month and is already making a 'good mess' in the Studio.
Samuel Glenn Wilson is a ceramic artist from southeastern Illinois whose work centers on the idea of having a dialogue with clay. Embracing the space between intuition and intentionality, he resists control, allowing forms to emerge through the processing of his
clay. His objects are often fluid and indistinct, evoking a resonance between presence and material experience. Wilson earned his BFA and MA at Eastern Illinois University and his MFA at Pennsylvania Western University.
