Heidi Folk Festival During Polkafest weekend, The Heidi Play takes stage on Saturday.

This cherished tradition, dating back to 1965, showcases not only the beloved tale but also brings delightful kittens from the humane society and charming goats from a nearby farm. The Heidi Folk Festival organization aims to recognize and assist students in the New Glarus community who aspire to pursue higher education by granting educational scholarships. These scholarships are funded through private donations, with the annual Heidi Play performance serving as the primary fundraiser each June. This performance not only upholds the Swiss heritage of New Glarus' original settlers from Glarus, Switzerland but also embodies the enduring spirit of community support and cultural celebration.
