Remember that you helped us save the iconic neon sign and it is now available to see fully restored at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum in York, PA.

Sorry to see this beautiful streamline architectural masterpeice fall to the ground in the name of progress.

We received this report from the York County History Center on how the neon sign exhibit has been received by early visitors.

"I wanted to share of the time I have been at AIM since the signs were added we had members of school groups (adults and students) along with a decent amount of our day visitors have positive comments about the signs. Many adults that I've chatted with share fond memories of the motel or the diner. The kids tend to be in awe of the the size and colors of the neon."

This make the neon sign restoration project worth the time and resources to bring these icons of local history from along the Lincoln Highway to life. ✨

The Straw family shared some early pictures of the Modernaire Motel at the opening of the neon sign exhibits.

Deb Straw confirmed that the sign had to be moved twice away from the right of way. Both times to accommodate the widening of the Lincoln Highway at the intersection of PA 24 (Mount Zion Road).

Bob and Deb Straw gave up their AAA rating so that they could keep the neon sign. We could not have preserved this vintage sign without their willingness to move and maintain the sign over the years.
