A new beginning is built one need at a time.

Sometimes that looks like helping a family find stability through case management. Sometimes it looks like walking alongside someone as they learn English, prepare for a driver’s license, or navigate life in a new country. And sometimes, it looks as simple and as important as providing a bed for someone arriving with very little and starting over.

When you become a Restorer of Homes monthly partner, you help make that kind of support possible month after month. Your generosity helps lay the foundation for safety, dignity, and belonging for refugees rebuilding their lives in our community.

This is more than a donation. It is a steady commitment to welcome, care, and new beginnings.

Become a Restorer of Homes monthly partner today and help make stories of hope possible.

Building a new life takes more than one resource, it takes the right support along the way.

Through our Community Resource Navigation services, we help individuals and families connect to the practical resources they need, from healthcare and transportation to financial literacy and legal assistance. With personalized guidance, newcomers are supported as they navigate unfamiliar systems and begin building stability in their new home.

Because when people know where to turn, the path forward becomes a little clearer.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and the enduring impact of lives laid down for others.

At the International Welcome Center, we are grateful for a nation where refuge, opportunity, and the hope of a new beginning are possible because of the bravery of those who served.

May we carry their memory with gratitude and honor them by building a community marked by compassion, dignity, and welcome for all.

It’s not too late to help provide a bed for someone starting over.

For newly arriving individuals and families, a bed is more than a piece of furniture. It is a place to rest, a sense of dignity, and a reminder that they have not been forgotten.

As new arrivals continue to come, the need is still there. If you’ve been meaning to give or shop our Wish List, now is a great time to step in and help make that first night a little more comfortable.

Help provide a bed for someone starting over. Give today or shop our Wish List to be part of that welcome: https://theiwc.org/beds/

As more families continue to rebuild their lives here, the need for compassionate, committed support continues to grow. Because of the language barrier, connecting volunteers to this community has been more challenging—but the need is real, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference is right in front of us.

If you are willing to step into something new and serve with compassion, we would love to connect with you. Extra training is available for IWC volunteers who are interested in serving this community and would like additional support before getting started.

Today, we honor the mothers whose love, strength, and resilience help hold families together.

We think especially of the mothers in the families we serve—women navigating change, carrying immense responsibility, and continuing to show up for their children with courage and care. We also celebrate the mothers on our staff and among our volunteers, whose compassion and steady presence help make this work possible.

Motherhood is often marked by sacrifice, perseverance, and deep love. Today, we pause to recognize the many ways mothers nurture, lead, and help shape stronger families and communities.

Happy Mother’s Day to all who are celebrating.

What began as a simple request for beds became something much deeper.

Through our volunteer Lila’s willingness to show up, a family received more than furniture. They experienced care, dignity, and the reminder that they do not have to navigate this journey alone.

In the middle of unfamiliar systems, language barriers, and daily challenges, small acts of support can become meaningful moments of connection. Sometimes it looks like assembling a bedframe. Sometimes it looks like laughter shared through broken English and Google Translate. And sometimes it simply looks like making sure a family no longer has to sleep on the floor.

Stories like this are a reminder that practical help matters, dignity matters, and community matters.

If you’re interested in serving with Rohingya refugee families, we’d love to connect with you.
