Good morning, fans and friends! It has been a heck of a frosty winter here in Central PA. Still, it is time to begin stirring from our winter hibernation and get back to making music. Even though the official start of Spring isn’t set to happen for a few weeks, things are warming up in the New Cumberland Town Band community. The band will be gearing up for its “Summer of Music 250” in connection with our country’s celebration of its 250th birthday. It is also a special birthday year for the band. 80 years ago, the group was founded. Come celebrate with us.
There are some things we want our community to be aware of:
First: People sometimes wonder how might I join the band? NCTB will begin rehearsals on March 10 at 7:30 p.m. at our rehearsal location at Trinity on Bridge, 415 Bridge Street, New Cumberland. If you or someone you know is interested in joining us and/or finding out more about the group, please contact us through our FB page by emailing [email protected]. Leave your name, a phone number, and the instrument you play. Your information will be passed along to our directors who will contact you.
Second: Our schedule will be coming out in the next few weeks. It is a busy one, with 12 performances planned from the end of May through the summer to December. The performances will be posted as events on our FB pages (we have two), on our webpage: ncTownBand.com., and in the local Town Planner. In order to help you can plan ahead, our first performance is set for May 25,at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Park and Bridge Streets for the Memorial Day Observance.
We look forward to getting things underway and hope to see you at some of our performances this year.
The New Cumberland Town Band is 50+ member concert band ensemble that plays approximately 10 free community concerts throughout the New Cumberland and greater Harrisburg, PA region each summer. The band also performs an annual free Christmas Concert each year in New Cumberland, PA.
