💧🌱 How do farmers water thousands of plants when it doesn’t rain?

This week, our 4th grade students became farm engineers as they explored different farm irrigation systems! Through hands-on experiments, they tested sprinkler, drip, and flood irrigation methods to discover which systems are the most efficient, effective, and sustainable.

Students worked together to observe how water moves, where it gets wasted, and how farmers can conserve this valuable resource while still growing healthy crops. One of the biggest lessons? Sustainable farming means using water wisely today so there will be enough for the future.

By the end of the lesson, students understood why drip irrigation is the primary system we use here at Cropsey Farm and how it helps us grow crops while conserving water. 🚜💧💚

🐐 A New Little Life on the Farm — Help Us Name Mocha’s Baby! 🌿

Our beloved goat Mocha has welcomed an adorable baby boy to the farm, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the news with our farm community!

He’s already hopping around the barn, sticking close to mom, and stealing hearts everywhere he goes. Moments like these are such a beautiful reminder of why we love sharing farm life with all of you—watching new life begin, building connections to agriculture, and creating memories together right here in our community.

Now comes the fun part… he needs a name!

We’re inviting our farm community to help us choose the perfect one.

💚 For every donation made to Rockland Community Farm Network, you’ll receive one entry for a chance to win the naming rights for Mocha’s baby girl!

Every contribution helps us care for our animals, support agricultural education programs, and continue creating hands-on farm experiences for children and families across our community.

Your support keeps the hay stacked, the barn bustling, and makes special moments like this possible.

✨ Donate, enter, and you could be the one to officially name our newest little farm friend! https://share.google/okYasiyxjThpqoIwB

Thank you for being part of this growing farm family—and for helping us welcome our newest arrival with so much love. 🐐🌸

We’re letting you in on a little (not-so) secret… 🐐🐷🐓 The Animal Station is everyone’s favorite stop at Cropsey Farm! 💚

Every field trip gives students the chance to meet our lovable herd of rescued farm animals — from goats and pigs to chickens, ducks, a turkey, and even our very silly goose 🪿✨ Along the way, they learn about animal safety, care, and companionship while getting hands-on experience helping feed and brush the animals themselves.

There’s nothing better than watching students connect with our furry and feathered friends while learning the importance of kindness and care for all living things 🌱🐾
