In preparation for the most Irish evening this side of Dublin (or at least Rockland County, New York), American Legion Post 1682 proudly invites you to our Annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Night in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

Date: March 21st
Time: 6:00 PM
Cost: $20 per person

Chef Jose will be serving a hearty meal, including:
• Generous slabs of Corned Beef
• Classic Cabbage (because it’s tradition, and traditions are important)
• Potatoes – because Ireland
• Steamed Carrots – to keep things colorful
• Fresh Irish Soda Bread – perfect for soaking up everything on your plate

For just twenty bucks, you’ll get a full plate, great company, and the chance to celebrate the luck of the Irish with friends and neighbors. Rumor has it the cabbage may even grant temporary leprechaun detection abilities, though results have not yet been confirmed by science. Come hungry, bring a friend, and don’t forget your appetite. Green attire is encouraged, stretchy pants are recommended, and seconds… well… we’ll see how the potatoes hold up.

The weather might be cold outside, but it was HOT HOT HOT this past weekend at the Post with the Auxiliary’s annual Chili Cookoff!

In advance of this weekend's storm, and the safety of our members and Tap Room staff, the Tap Room will be CLOSED on Sunday, January 25.

We will keep an eye on the weather and as long as the roads are safe to travel, we will look forward to opening the Tap Room back up on Monday.

On December 19, members of the Post, Sons, Auxiliary and their families enjoyed a delicious dinner while celebrating the holiday season! Members also brought down unwrapped toys as part of the Toys for Tots program sponsored every year by the Rockland County Marine Corps League.

The next time you’re coming down to the Post, please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy to donate for the annual Toys for Tots drive, put on annually by our friends in the Rockland County Marine Corps League.

Tonight at our Post Meeting, we were joined by Rob Holstine, who was one of the two students that was sponsored by our Post to attend Boys State. He spoke to those in attendance about his experience, and took questions as well.

He was introduced by William Elmendorf, a member of Squadron 1682 who is currently serving as the 9th District Aide to the Detachment of New York Commander.

Rob is a senior at Clarkstown North, and will attend the United States Military Academy come next Fall. He’s President of the Student Council, as well as North’s chapter of the Stars and Stripes Club.

Afterwards, Auxiliary Unit 1682 put on a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixin’s!

We mourn the loss of Post Vice Commander Anthony LaPietra.

His wake will be at Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Sunday, November 16th from 1-5pm.

There will be a Legion service at 2:00pm.

A funeral Mass will take place at St. Augustine’s Church in New City on Monday, November 17 at 10:00am.

Please keep his wife, Andrea, and the whole LaPietra family in your prayers and thoughts.

Post 1682 had a well-attended Veterans Day ceremony tonight - many thanks to BSA Troop 79 - New City, NY for once again participating and being a special part of the evening.

Afterwards, members of the Post 1682 family, as well as the Scouts and their family, enjoyed a delicious dinner.
