SummerCollab We work with schools and community partners to deliver year-round learning experiences that support kids’ growth—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Summer is a window into the life we want for ourselves, and it is for that reason that we, The Summer Learning Collaborative (SummerCollab), sincerely believe all kids, in particular our low-income youth, need access to extraordinary experiences in the summertime and throughout the school year. ckling summer learning loss, SummerCollab is dedicated to offering a summer of limitless possibilities for our low-income youth. We co-create both summer and year-long youth programs with community agencies and schools that energize kids to love learning, play wildly, and believe in the power of their unique talents. With our extraordinary summer and year-long programs, SummerCollab better equips children to engage with academic content and their everyday lives with boosts of confidence and socio-emotional growth. SummerCollab seeks to realize a world filled with imaginative, confident young people who believe in their unique talents, intelligence and unlimited possibility! Helping to bring the wonder of summer into everyday!

Our programs are ever-expanding and include:
1. TYLER'S CAMP
(Provides music, technology, sports and arts opportunities free of charge for Wilmington’s highest need middle school youth where students have the chance to explore all they can be and what they have the potential to create)

2. READING BUDDIES
(K-5 targeted literacy intervention programming carried out by our Literacy Corps members)

3. COMMUNITY MENTOR NETWORK
(A program working to support students who have experienced socio-emotional loss in addition to academic learning loss due to the pandemic by providing targeted 1:1 social-emotional learning and mentoring support to students as they return to in-person schooling)

We are SO proud of you, Sheyenne! 💙👏🏽

Sheyenne has been such an important part of the SummerCollab family, taking on so many different roles and always showing up for our students, families, and staff with heart, energy, and dedication.

Now she’s taking that passion for young people and education into her next chapter, and we couldn’t be more excited for her! 📚✨

🌟 NEW EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: SHEYENNE FAIRCLOTH 🌟

Please join us in welcoming Sheyenne Faircloth to the Power of WE! Sheyenne joins McCullough Middle School as a 7th Grade ELA Teacher.

Sheyenne is a proud Colonial alumna who attended Wilbur Elementary, Gunning Bedford Middle School, and William Penn High School. Before joining Colonial, she worked as a Site Lead with the Summer Learning Collaborative, a nonprofit organization serving Colonial schools and other local communities.

Her own Colonial ELA teachers helped inspire her path into education, especially the women of color who showed her the power of stories and literacy to empower, inspire, and transform communities.

As she returns to Colonial as an educator, Sheyenne is most excited about mentoring young people and giving back to the community that helped shape her.

Welcome home, Sheyenne! We are excited to have you inspiring the next generation of Colonial students! ❤️🖤

🎒 The school year is about to begin again... have you signed up for CollabClub Before & Afterschool?

CollabClub isn’t your typical before and afterschool program—it’s a club-based, licenced childcare program where students get to choose what they want to do!

Each day, students explore different clubs and activities based on their interests. Whether they want to create in Art, experiment in STEM, cook something new, get active with sports, or try something they’ve never done before, there’s always something exciting happening.

As a licensed before and afterschool program, CollabClub gives families a safe, engaging place for students to learn, connect, and have fun while building new skills and friendships.
