New Castle Rotary #89

"Service Above Self". Rotary Club New Castle #89 was chartered in 1913 and serves to improve our local community and assist in projects around the world.

Rotary International is the world's premier international humanitarian service organization. Rotary is a diverse global network of community, business and professional leaders, over 1.2 million strong in 34,000 clubs who address relevant social causes to change lives and build goodwill and peace at home and abroad. The clubs serve to provide basic services to others, promote integrity, goodwill, a

nd peace. Members of New Castle Rotary #89 have identified specific projects that characterize the avenues of service and to help change our community. Using an annual giving budget of $25,000, New Castle Rotary #89 really makes a local difference. New Castle Rotarians participate in fund raising throughout the year to support the many local projects and activities.

2026 Rotary Club of New Castle’s Lottery Calendar Now Available

The Rotary Club of New Castle annual fundraiser calendar is currently available for purchase. The 2026 calendar theme is “Vintage Education and Religion (Year 2)”. For the second year, the calendar focuses on historic schools and religious buildings of New Castle. The Rotary Club of New Castle is grateful to the Lawrence County Historical Society and others for allowing their collection of photos to be used for the calendars.
According to the 1914 New Castle City Directory there were 61 religious organizations including 14 Methodist; nine Presbyterian; seven Roman Catholic; six Missions; five Baptist; three Disciples of Christ; two each Episcopal, Greek Catholic and Spiritualists; and one each Evangelical, Congregational (Welsch), Polish Catholic, Hebrew, Salvation Army and Christian Science. There were also 20 schools listed; 16 public and 4 parochial.
The calendars are numbered from 000-999 and based on the PA official three-digit evening Lottery number. All numbers are played straight as drawn and daily awards are $25.00, except on five bonus days where winners receive between $100 and $500.

Since 1913, New Castle Rotary has participated in various projects that enhance and enrich those in our wonderful diverse community. Eighty percent of their fundraising profits go directly back into our community through local grants. Twenty percent goes to Rotary District, National, and International projects, collectively.

The Rotary Clubs of New Castle, Ellwood City, and New Wilmington were honored to host a Rotary Friendship Exchange with visiting Rotarians from Kosovo and Albania! 🌍

The luncheon was held at Rotarian Cindy Cochran’s beautiful barn, where guests enjoyed a true taste of Western Pennsylvania — complete with a classic cookie table 🍪✨

Flags were exchanged, friendships were formed, and everyone enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of fellowship and cultural connection. The visiting group continued their journey with more events around Lawrence County.

PLEASE HELP US BRING BACK OUR PEACE POLE

Our Peace Pole has gone missing from the corner lot of Grant Street and Highland Avenue. This pole is a symbol of unity and peace in our community, and we simply want it returned, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. This week, members of the Rotary Club of New Castle rolled up their sleeves to help set up for the City Rescue Mission's Back to School Bash — an amazing program that ensures local kids head back to school with the supplies and confidence they need to succeed!

Giving back is at the heart of Rotary. Whether it’s supporting education, fighting hunger, or building stronger communities, Rotary offers a powerful way to make a real difference — while forming lasting friendships and having fun along the way.
