Mt Jackson Museum and Park

Mt Jackson Museum and Park Encourage participation in and attendance at our Mt Jackson BiCentennial Celebration of 200 years of history.

Events will include a motorcycle and car cruise, a gigantic parade, civil war battle reenactment, live music, a community worship service, a community lawn picnic, food, arts and crafts, memorabalia, souvenir sales, games and raffles,
all local concessions, non-carnival atmosphere, community fellowship.

We regret to inform the community that our grant request for funds from the May Emma Hoyt Foundation has been denied. We had hoped to receive enough grant money to construct the "Big Barn" structure upon the foundation we have already built. To date, we have invested $1.6mil. in the park and anticipate needing about $2 mil to finish it.
The denial letter states:
"The Hoyt Board is concerned if you have the ability to raise a substantial amount of money, if there is a viable plan for income/donations in the future, and if your project will generate out-of-County/ out-of-State traffic which justifies the investment?"
Although we are deeply disappointed by the denial, we will continue to seek funds for the construction of our community gathering center.

Our one horse plow has returned to the Museum from it's furlough, or more likely "furrow".

Hi All,
We had a single bottom, one-horse plow on display in front of the Sinclair Gas Station that disappeared about 2 -3 weeks ago. You can see it in the picture to the far right of the station. Apparently, someone needed to borrow it to plow up their flower garden using their draft horse, or more likely thought it would make an interesting yard ornament for Fathers Day. In any event, we are asking the borrower to return it within 10 days, and your neighbors will not know you are a thief, and we won't press theft charges. By the way, we have surveillance video of its removal, and know who you are. ..MJMF Board

Hi All,
We are applying for grants to reconstruct our "Big Barn" on the Museum Park Site. As you may be aware, we deconstructed the Jack Gleghorn barn using Amish workers, and have the timbers on site to reconstruct a new community gathering space. The foundation and ground floor are already in place. We are looking for contractors or builders familiar with "Big Barn" construction to give us current quotes for erecting and enclosing the structure with roofing, siding, windows, doors, cupolas, 30' x 40' kitchen extension. We will competively bid out the work. If you know of any Contractors who would be interested in this work, please contact me for details.
