Never forget what happened on June 6th. Today we honor all those who landed on that beach and all of those that worked together to coordinate this massive undertaking on land, air and sea.

Eighty-two years ago today, freedom stood on the edge of extinction, and Allied forces stormed into hell to help save the world.

We will never forget the courage, the sacrifice, and the blood spilled on that fateful day.

Remembering the meaning behind the holiday was the message from Lt. Col. John Kochansky during Saturday morning's Memorial Day program in downtown New Castle.

There will be a luncheon at the Legion immediately following Saturday's event in Kennedy Square. If you plan on attending the luncheon, kindly let us know here or by calling the office, to ensure that we prepare enough food.

Saturday, May 16th 9:00am - Meet at the American Legion to prepare for the removal of old flags from the Greenwood Cemetery and the placement of new flags on 900+ veteran's graves. There will be a luncheon served afterwards to all volunteers. Come rain or shine and help prepare the graves of veteran's for Memorial Day. Dress accordingly - waterproof boots are strongly recommended. With the weather we have been having - you may even want waders.

Due to the low temperatures, poor weather, and sickness among volunteers we are postponing the setting of flags at Greenwood Cemetery until next Saturday, May 16th.

Join us at 9:00am at the Legion downtown on May16th. We will plan our course of action and assign sections of the cemetery together and then proceed to Greenwood. Let's hope that next Saturday is a beautiful day so that we can properly set flags on the graves of our veterans and remove the old flags for proper disposal.
