The Laurel Girl Scouts hosted their annual “Campout” weekend at the Liberty Grange this year. The high school troops planned activities to celebrate both Thinking Day and our Girl Scout Birthday at the event. Juniors through Ambassadors slept over while our Brownies and Daisies enjoyed Saturday activities. As a service project, the girls donated items for and then put together 33 individual birthday kits that were delivered to our local ARISE shelter. These included cake mix, icing, sprinkles, cake pans, soda and homemade birthday cards. Everyone is so busy these days, juggling all their activities. It was great to finally get the Service Unit together again to celebrate our sisterhood!

The Laurel Girl Scouts are representing well once again at the Lawrence County Fair, from entries in the 4-H and open classes, to proudly showing their livestock which they have dedicated endless hours raising for this fair; the girls and their many projects can be spotted around every corner. This year’s Fair Queen is Miss Natalie Rodgers, Laurel Troop 16150, and Grange Ambassador is Miss Emilee Book, Laurel Troop 46727. Our Service Unit is so very proud of their courage to represent us this year in these positions and look forward to seeing their leadership grow as they represent our Fair, Granges, and our agricultural community throughout the year. High School Members of the Laurel Service Unit had the honor of raising the Flag for the opening of the Lawrence County Fair again this year. Everyone should come out to Fair- they have good things growing!

Day three of our travel trip to Tennessee. Started our morning at the Titanic Museum, ended the day at the Dixie Stampede Dinner show, with a mountain coaster ride tucked in between. Girls are enjoying the arcade/billiards room, movie theater and hot tub at our lodge. It has been great having everyone together under one roof! Tomorrow will be a travel day for us as we make our way back to little old New Castle, Pennsylvania! See you all soon!
