Meet Max, a sweet and loving 2-year-old male Cockapoo who is in desperate need of a new place to land. Max is dog-friendly and incredibly affectionate, although he can be stubborn and temperamental at times) - so like most pups, he’ll need a little time to decompress and settle into his new surroundings before being overwhelmed with new introductions.

While Max is not currently in our care, Pet And Wildlife Sanctuaries is stepping in to help — and we will cover ALL of his expenses and medical care throughout the foster period. We just need a caring and patient foster to give Max the safe space and love he so deserves.

At Pet and Wildlife Sanctuaries (PAWS), the animals always come first.

We’re 100% volunteer-run. That means every dollar we receive goes toward saving lives — not salaries, not branding, not perks. Just animals.

Rescue isn’t glamorous. It’s hard work. It’s heartbreak. It’s late nights, early mornings, vet bills, cleaning supplies, and emergency transports. It’s doing without, so they don’t have to.

We're sharing this post today to echo the powerful message from another all-volunteer rescue: Rescue is about priorities. Not about fancy logos, matching shirts, or expensive marketing. It's about giving everything we can to those who rely on us most — the voiceless, the abandoned, the forgotten.

💯 Every donation we receive helps us provide food, medical care, safety, and a second chance to animals in need.
🛠️ Every project we complete is built by hands that care — not by paid contractors.
💚 Every life saved is because someone gave selflessly.

💚 We’re Back—and Stronger Than Ever! 💚

A few days ago, we shared that a misguided young individual stole our donation box during our event outside Tractor Supply. While it was a discouraging moment after a beautiful day of sharing our Ducks for Dogs and Plants for PAWS programs, we said it then—and we’ll say it again: We will not let this deter our mission‼️

🐾 Today, our dedicated volunteer Tom is right back out front of Tractor Supply in Bear, Delaware (Governor's Square Shopping Center) under our canopy, offering shade, smiles, and support for the animals of PAWS. 🐾

We are a 100% volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means every dollar donated goes directly to the animals—those in our sanctuary, those in loving foster homes, and even pets in the community helped through our PAWS MAP (Medical Assistance Program). This program supports struggling adopters and local families with unexpected vet costs—because rescue doesn’t end at adoption.

💔 A Disheartening Moment — But Our Mission Continues 💔

Today, while representing Pet And Wildlife Sanctuaries in front of Tractor Supply at Governor’s Square, our dedicated volunteer Tom was engaging with the community and sharing our Plants for PAWS and Ducks for Dogs programs — both of which were receiving wonderful support.

Unfortunately, during the event, a young individual made the disappointing decision to steal our donation box and flee. Since Tom was volunteering solo at the time, he did what he had to do: stayed behind to protect the rest of our setup and outreach materials.

We’re unsure how much was taken, but what we do know is this:
We will not let this discourage or derail our mission. 🐾🌱

We’re still here today for another hour — and we hope to return all day tomorrow (volunteer availability permitting). Our passion for helping animals, wildlife, and the community remains unwavering.

This is also a reminder of how vital our volunteers are.
PAWS is 100% volunteer-run, and having a reliable team is crucial for us to keep showing up, rescuing, educating, and making a difference.

🚨🐾 URGENT: Foster or Adopter Needed for Sweet Pitbull Mix named Zeke! 🐾

We’re trying to help a friendly 4-year-old male pitbull mix in need of a loving home. This gentle guy was recently rehomed through a Facebook group, but sadly his new owners are facing unexpected housing struggles and can no longer care for him. The original owner is unreachable—leaving this poor pup’s future uncertain, especially with our current heat wave ☀️🥵

💙 He is reported to be great with kids and has a sweet, loving personality!
🐶 As always, a meet and greet with all family members (and pets) is required for any approved application to make sure it’s the perfect fit.

⚠️ **Important Note:** This dog is NOT currently in the care of Pet And Wildlife Sanctuaries, but we are committed to assisting the current owners in finding him a safe, happy placement.

✨ To help make this transition successful, PAWS will gladly cover the cost of all vetting needed to get him ready for his forever home!
