As this school year wraps up, we're already looking ahead to this summer's Back To School sponsorship!

This program is running a little early this year, and we wanted to give you plenty of notice. The Ramirez family are planning a late July mission trip, when we hope to host an outreach event with an inspirational message for our students before distributing their supplies. All sponsorship/donations are needed by July 15th, so our fundraising starts now!

Giving Hands’ healthcare services have been blessed by Nurse Anjeina’s leadership and dedication since our very beginning. Now we’d love to bless Anjelina, her husband Frank, and their precious daughter Anyeli, by contributing to the building of their own home! Our most recent mission team had the pleasure of touring the in-progress house framing in January, seeing how much Anjelina and Frank have already invested and the awesome progress they’ve made. Our tiny-but-mighty kids’ ministry team was quite busy with all the details of hosting Altagracia’s 8 Christmas parties, so we might have less photos than usual. But the 4 amazing women in charge of these parties truly poured their hearts and souls into the 270 kids who attended. Every child received a tiny Jesus - to remember that He’s the best Christmas gift ever - and a wooden cross to remember His sacrifice. Then through a group prayer, many accepted the opportunity to receive Christ’s gift of salvation! 💝

Finally sharing our full Christmas party experiences! Starting on our team’s first full day in Altagracia, we prepped supplies, organized gifts, cooked meals, and invited kids in groups by their school class. Then at the parties, we sang Christmas songs, shared the Gospel story with age-appropriate levels of emphasis, served the food, and finally let the kids choose their gifts! Check out the following sweet moments from our very first party, which was for our adorable preschool class! Feliz Navidad!

One of our first activities was a Christmas party for the staff of the medical center and other members of the Giving Hands local team. Our visiting mission team served the meal and passed out favors; then, we had a little raffle for 5 prizes, which got quite exciting! But the highlight was hearing how much our staff appreciated being served and honored for all their service to the community throughout the year. 💛

Our PA team of 4 adults and the 2 Ramirez kiddos traveled from the cold weather, warmed up with some “cafe con leche” en route to Barahona, reunited with some of our Dominican loved ones on a quick visit to Altagracia, and then got right to preparing for our upcoming activities!

Our final 56 Christmas gift recipients were the kiddos of La Ureña, a small community where we serve in the outskirts of Santo Domingo. We visited La Ureña on our final day of ministry and hosted a very similar Christmas party, most importantly including the same Gospel message, before letting the children choose their gifts. This brought our total to 330 kids who received Christmas gifts this year! Praise God! And thank you again to all our sponsors and donors! ❤️💚

After the elementary school kids’ parties, we gave our senior high school students first pick of the teen gifts. (Watch for a future post about their spiritually impactful party, too!) We’re so proud of these young men and women, so it was a true joy to reward them with a quality little treat before they started back into their next semester. Thank you so much to our Amazon gift donors and to our financial donors who allowed us to shop for more gifts in stores and transport them all down to the DR. 💝
