To those who planned to support the Delaware Grand Staff with their polar bear plunge, please be advised that it has been postponed!

2026 Plunge Weekend Postponement🌨️🌊

Safety has and always will be our top priority at Special Olympics Delaware. Due to severe weather conditions, we, along with our law enforcement and first responder partners, have made the decision to prioritize the safety of all participants, volunteers, athletes, and staff by rescheduling the 2026 Lewes Polar Bear Plunge.

The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge will take place on Sun, Mar 1, 2026, in Rehoboth Beach. All other weekend elements, including Newark packet pick up, the 5K Run to the Plunge, etc. are also postponed to the weekend of February 27-March 1.

We hope to host all elements of the Plunge Weekend Festival and ask for your patience as we confirm availability with the multitude of supporters and sponsors who make all those additional events happen.

If you have made overnight accommodations, please contact the establishment directly to cancel and/or reschedule.
