Each year, New Buffalo Middle School schedules a field trip to give our students an experience connected to our curriculum. We call it our Middle School Experience Field Trip. The past two years, we’ve visited the Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum in Chicago, IL. We lead up to the trip with lessons that directly connect to what students will experience.

This year, our Experience Field Trip is coming to New Buffalo Middle School! On Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM, members of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi are coming to the Performing Arts Center to share their history and culture through spoken word, drumming, dancing, and much more.

The presentation will be based on the Seven Grandfather Teachings, and it will be a fantastic cultural experience for our students, staff, and community. The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi gives so much to our school through grants and support, and we believe it’s important for our students to have a better understanding of their culture and all the things that make them special to our community!
