Innovation: The tentative name for our organization is One and the Same (OATS). We strive to decrease the disparity in health care between developed and undeveloped nations by providing recourses to those in need. Vaccinations have the potential to facilitate the eradication of preventable diseases in an inexpensive and simple way. With the assistance of sponsor companies such as WHO and VSO Inter
national, we have the ability to deliver these vaccinations. However, we also put a strong emphasis on giving back locally. Awareness and education are key to preventing future health issues. The distinctive feature of our organization is its promotion of both international and local well being. Our end goal, internationally, is to directly administer vaccines in a third world country and successfully renovate and sustain a health clinic. At home, we want to instill healthy habits in the younger generation that will be carried with them for the rest of their lives. Impact: Our focus is on health care in third world countries, and our primary goal is to send vaccines to underdeveloped villages to combat preventable diseases. We specifically aim to establish ties with an international clinic, and supply their doctors with necessary equipment. Through social media, we would like to invite interested members of the Rutgers community to take part in our cause. Their charitable actions will not only improve the lives of others, but will also fuel their own desire to give back to the world. On the local level, we want to promote education. For example, in elementary schools, we would educate children on the importance of hygiene and proper sanitary habits. Resourcefulness: We initially plan to fundraise for our cause through bake sales, chocolate sales, pizza sales, and breakfast sales. From our experience, such events are popular among students and are effective ways of raising funds and awareness. As we grow as an organization, we would like to work towards planning larger events such as dances, 5K walks, and sports tournaments. Additionally, we would take advantage of social media to raise money through crowd surfing. For instance, donors who help further our cause could receive a certificate of thanks or a small token of appreciation. We recognize the value of man power and we would use social media to reach out to other possible volunteers and spread awareness. We are also aware that there will be unexpected challenges in achieving our goal, and we believe that by being open minded, prepared, and determined, we will be able to adapt to any situation.
