Just a few more ways New Brunswick's public schools keep getting better:
• Provides pre-school for ALL three and four-year-olds citywide
• Established the first “University Affiliated School” in New Jersey in partnership with Rutgers University
• Saves taxpayers millions of dollars each year through shared services in partnership with the City
• 26 Innovative Teaching Grants awarded to our teachers for
development of projects outside of traditional curriculum
• 27% increase in students enrolled in Advanced Placement and Honors Programs
• Honored by VH1-TV as the “National School District of the Year” for advancement in musical offerings to students
• Our district has built more new schools and established more new academic programs than any other school district
in the County... and at the best cost with taxes $1,413 a year less than all the elected school boards
• National and State award winning pre- and after school programs
• Built, not one, but two new high schools:
- Our state-of-the-art community high school on Route 27 – the finest new school facility in the State, and
- Our Health, Science & Technology High School on French Street – the only high school in New Jersey to form a partnership with a hospital (RWJUH) and a medical school
(UMDNJ) to prepare our students for careers in our expanding healthcare industry
• Over 34% increased participation in the Rutgers Future Scholars program
• Unique offerings to our students not available anywhere else, through partnerships with our City and our cultural center, theaters, dance companies, businesses, healthcare
institutions, Rutgers, UMDNJ, and Middlesex County College
• The State’s only “Abbott” school district to pass both state and federal monitoring and be classified as a district “No Longer in Need of Improvement” in accordance with “No Child Left Behind” federal legislation since 2009
• Best Adult Learning Center in the state, providing 2nd chance opportunities for New Brunswick residents and awarding over 150 high school diplomas to graduating adults every year.
