"In his brief 38 years in this world, Miten made an impact on so many of the people around him and provided a guide to all of his brothers on how to live selflessly and embody the concept of brotherhood. Miten was one of the founders of Zeta Chapter of Delta Epsilon Psi at Baylor University. Prior to joining the fraternity Miten demonstrated his commitment and brotherhood by joining the Army and serving our great nation. Once his service was complete in the military, he came to Baylor and was eager to get involved with starting Delta Epsilon Psi. During the pledging process, Miten showed a commitment not only to his brothers, but also to his community and his culture. Miten was always happy to be involved in community events such as volunteering for habitat for humanity or going to Garbas hosted in the Waco community. His service continued during his time at Baylor and throughout his life. Miten was always the first person to show up and offer to help at any event or activity and the last one to leave.
Miten was a unique human being, his energy would always fill up the room with positivity, his smile would make everyone smile as well and his ability to live in the moment and make each moment count was something to be admired. His generosity knew no bounds, if Miten saw that someone he loved needed something, he would spare no expense to ensure that they have everything they want to be happy. There is no doubt that each and every brother who has met Miten, has some crazy story of how Miten has done Capoeira in a club, or a story of how generous and open he was with all his friends and family.
Miten was, is and always will be the definition of brotherhood in the fraternity. He embodied what it meant to care for those who he loved. He put the needs of the many ahead of the need of his own. He embodied the pillars which we live by – brotherhood, discipline and commitment. And will be missed by all of us. I encourage everyone to remember him for who he was, a man who could make the best out of any situation, a man who served his country and a man who truly lived in the moment. Let’s learn to be more like Miten and make the short time we have in this world, the best life we could possibly live.
Miten is survived by his wife Arti Patel and his family in Waco, Texas. To them, we express our sincerest condolences. If there is anything which they need, we encourage you to lend a hand in any way you are able to. Rest in peace Miten Patel; Founding Class, Zeta Chapter"
