EON: Empower Our Neighborhoods

EON: Empower Our Neighborhoods Dedicated to helping residents and citizens access the tools to improve their neighborhoods

Empower Our Neighborhoods is a grass-roots community organization that was founded in 2007 by New Brunswick residents, student activists, and progressive Rutgers alumni. During their first summer, EON volunteers went door-to-door raising support for ward-based representation on the New Brunswick City Council. Since the Spring of 2009 EON has been working to provide positive youth activities, quali

ty of life improvements, and cultural events throughout the city. Most importantly EON is working with our neighbors to set a precedent of community control over community problems.

EON is excited to partner with Unity Square to host this year's New Brunswick Board of Education Candidates Forum, and we hope you’ll join us for the forum this Wednesday 4/10 at 6:30pm!

This will be a chance for residents to hear from the candidates running to serve on New Brunswick's Board of Education, and ask them questions.

Candidates will be speaking briefly before opening up to questions from the public, as well as making closing statements. All six candidates who are on the ballot for the upcoming April 16 election have been invited, and we have confirmed participation of multiple candidates.

The forum will be this Wednesday 4/10 on the 1st floor of the Unity Square Community Center (81 Remsen Avenue) in New Brunswick. Doors will open at 6pm and refreshments will be served; the forum will begin at 6:30pm. Please let us know if you plan to join us by filling out this quick RSVP form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJFVeBRC-cbjb7r9mcpSj6h5NIvHBljreWc1LsDDV9_VG4Qg/viewform

We believe in empowering the voices of the youth. EON is proud to support the campaign to extend voting rights to 16 and 17-year-olds in Board of Education elections.

By engaging with the youth and in shaping educational policies, we aim to foster a sense of civic responsibility and ensure that decisions impacting their education reflect their perspectives. Join the movement to ensure decisions reflect the students' voices.

The city council meeting will take place on February 7th, at 5:30pm. The address is 78 Bayard Street. There is available parking in the back of the building. See you all there!

🚨Attention New Brunswick!🚨

We're going to have a meeting focusing on housing, homelessness, and programs that'll support people who are struggling to get by.

Living in New Brunswick has been increasingly unaffordable for families and individuals. We urge you to join us and advocate for a more affordable city. Bring a friend and family!
