New Jersey is one of the most impacted states in the country by toxic forever chemicals (PFAS) in drinking water sources. PFAS in drinking water builds up in our bodies over time and they are linked to increased cancer, reproductive toxicity, and developmental problems.
That is why Environment New Jersey took our No Toxics on Tap campaign directly to residents at their doorsteps and to legislators to demand action.
This campaign we spoke with more than 9,000 residents in neighborhoods across the state and gathered more than 3,400 petitions to urge Governor Phil Murphy to take action before the end of his term. In multiple lobby days, we relayed concerns that we heard from the public and delivered petitions to NJDEP and Gov. Murphy’s office. We also got state legislators to sign on to our No Toxics on Tap campaign - a big thanks to Sen. Vin Gopal, Sen. Nilsa Cruz-Perez, Sen. Patrick Diegnan, Sen. Britnee Timberlake and Sen. Linda Greenstein who all signed on in support!
Environment New Jersey knocked on thousands of doors across the state to build support for a NJDEP proposal to limit forever chemicals in our waterways.
