Environment New Jersey went on the Delaware River Back Channel for two boat trips in the last two weeks, showing a promising path forward for the Camden waterfront!

The vision includes:
✅A linear green space park, allowing Camden residents to walk along the river, much like Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River Park!
✅Making use of lands around the waterfront that are already public and developing them into green spaces and additional parks!
✅The importance of a clean Delaware for clean water for on-the-water recreation for Camden children and adults alike!

Getting on the Delaware and into the Back Channel was a reminder of how connected we are to environmental issues, especially in urban areas. Clean waterways and green space development offer beautiful sights, sustainable environment, and reconnection with nature for all residents of Camden. We must seize this opportunity to make it happen!

Huge THANK YOU to Upstream Alliance for putting together these boat trips and bringing these great people together!

Environment New Jersey and allies hit the lower Delaware River to envision exciting new opportunities for Camden’s riverfront.

New Jersey is one of the most impacted states in the country by toxic forever chemicals (PFAS) in drinking water sources. PFAS in drinking water builds up in our bodies over time and they are linked to increased cancer, reproductive toxicity, and developmental problems.

That is why Environment New Jersey took our No Toxics on Tap campaign directly to residents at their doorsteps and to legislators to demand action.

This campaign we spoke with more than 9,000 residents in neighborhoods across the state and gathered more than 3,400 petitions to urge Governor Phil Murphy to take action before the end of his term. In multiple lobby days, we relayed concerns that we heard from the public and delivered petitions to NJDEP and Gov. Murphy’s office. We also got state legislators to sign on to our No Toxics on Tap campaign - a big thanks to Sen. Vin Gopal, Sen. Nilsa Cruz-Perez, Sen. Patrick Diegnan, Sen. Britnee Timberlake and Sen. Linda Greenstein who all signed on in support!

Environment New Jersey knocked on thousands of doors across the state to build support for a NJDEP proposal to limit forever chemicals in our waterways.

Neonicotinoid pesticides attack a bee’s nervous system, causing uncontrolled shaking, paralysis and death. And with the simple click of the mouse, Amazon will deliver a shipment of these devastating chemicals in the next day. Tell Amazon to stop selling bee-killing pesticides:

Bee populations are plummeting, but Amazon could help.

Logging could soon start tearing down 45 million acres of national forest, from the Tongass National Forest in Alaska to the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. You have less than 3 weeks to speak up for our forests. Add your name.

45 million acres of national forests could be opened to road-building, logging and mining. And we only have three weeks to gather public comments.

Neonicotinoid pesticides attack bees’ brains, killing some bees outright while leaving others helplessly paralyzed or uncontrollably shaking. Target is selling these bee-killing pesticides. Take action to help convince Target to save the bees:

As a major retailer, Target can set an example in bee conservation by halting the sale of neonicotinoid pesticides.
