Adventures in Genealogy:

Or: How a little information can lead to big discoveries (while wearing pajamas).

Description:

Twice in recent months, Sandy used disparate clues from a variety resources,
along with help from the social media community,
to find two lost relatives -- one in Massachusetts and the other in Israel.

The discoveries were made in two whirlwind, late-night searches.
She'll discuss how family documents and stories can be among the most valuable assets in genealogy,
when combined with tools like Ancestry.com, Facebook and jewishgen.org.

Exploring my Family's Roots in Germany

Dr. Reiss has traveled to Germany a number of times to collect genealogical information about his ancestors and to explore the environment in which they lived. He was born in New York, shortly after his parents immigrated to the U.S. from N**i Germany. Because his family spoke mostly German at home, he has a good command of the language and has been able to use German archives, converse with local people, visit Jewish cemeteries, etc. Over the years he has exchanged information with numerous German archivists and historians pertaining to Jewish life there.
