🌟🎉 Meet Dr. Althea T. Simpson, MBA, MSW 🎉🌟

Dr. Althea, LCSW, RPT-S is . . .

■ The AUTHOR of "Hurt to Healing: Child Witnesses of Domestic Violence and Their Invisible Injuries", a book written to help communities understand the “invisible injuries” children carry when they witness violence in their homes.

■ A THERAPIST, a REGISTERED PLAY THERAPIST-SUPERVISOR, and TRAINER. Dr. Althea has seen firsthand how powerful it is when children are given permission to feel and share their emotions. She believes that when adults, whether parents, mental health professionals, teachers, or community members, create safe spaces for children to express themselves, healing and resilience become possible.

■ A TEACHER known for her down-to-earth teaching style. Dr. Althea blends real-life stories, professional expertise, and practical tools that anyone can use to support children’s emotional well-being. Her passion is helping children and families go from “Hurt to Healing,” and communities learn how to listen to children’s hearts, validate their experiences, and remind them every day that it’s okay to feel.

Dr. Althea has spent over 20 years walking alongside children and families as they navigate the challenges of trauma, conflict, and healing. As a Facilitator, she'll discuss for children "It's Okay to Feel." JOIN US:

💜🩷 LONG, YET IMPORTANT POST ALERT!!🩷💜

October is an important month for health awareness. Our nation typically embraces this month as and the pink explodes everywhere. However, did you also know that October is ?

I'd love to see a purple explosion, too! This cause does not get as much press as . Why? Is it still taboo to talk about ? Both causes are crucial to the health and well-being of GOD's Family. Open conversations about awareness and prevention are necessary in homes, workplaces, schools, and churches.
🟪
As a Christian Elder, my care and concern extends to all. As an African American, I have particular concern for my brothers and sisters of the African Diaspora. These statistics are staggering for domestic violence:

• "More than 40% of Black women experience physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. This is higher than the rate of 31.5% for all women."

• "Approximately 40% of Black men have experienced intimate partner physical violence, sexual violence, or stalking in their lifetimes. This is also disproportionately high."
🟪

What can we do to positively decrease these stats? The tactics are similar as for other causes . . .

• : Seek opportunities to learn and then teach about domestic violence. E.g., (VoS) Conference

• : Find and volunteer for organizations, e.g., Spirit of Excellence - Leadership Guidance, Inc.

• : Develop, model, and maintain healthy relationships within the community. Its especially essential for our youth.
🟪

Let's not turn away from domestic violence conversations or situations. If you truly love and support your brothers or sisters, like me, please take an assertive approach and show me.

This year is my second year supporting the development of the . While I appreciate you reading and liking the posts, when will you take a leap of faith and attend the conference? We've made it easier to access...

• It's on a Saturday, 10/18.
• It's available in-person and on Zoom.
• It's affordable for $45 to $95.
• It's nourishing literally and figuratively.

If you are a member of men/women ministries, fraternities, sororities, and/or non-profits, there's no excuse for your absence. You can invite groups of people to be a part of a transformative experience together.

Come on y'all, stop playing. Put on your purple and show up!

If you absolutely cannot attend next Saturday, we encourage donations to this worthy cause.
