Juneteenth marks the official day when slavery ended in the US.
While slaves were granted freedom, there ensued many more decades of hardship, racism, and denial of basic rights.
While much has changed since then, not enough has changed for our black brothers and sisters who continue to endure racial and fundamental human injustice.
Let the current protests and demonstrations be part of the continuous effort towards a more equitable future for all black lives.
