Did you know that nearly one-third of the food we eat depends on pollinators like bees? From our local Jersey tomatoes and blueberries to the wildflowers blooming across the Pine Barrens, bees play a vital role in maintaining the health of Ocean County's beautiful ecosystems and agriculture.

As part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, we are dedicated to helping our community protect these essential insects. You can do your part right in your own backyard by planting native, pollinator-friendly flowers, providing natural nesting habitats, and minimizing pesticide use in your lawn and gardens.

What can we discover from our planetary neighbor, Mars?

In April, our 4H'ers got the chance to learn from Kate Hendrickson, a planetary scientist at Rutgers Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences! Together, they examined the rocks and minerals we can find on Earth, learned how the Curiosity Rover functions with an online simulator, and explored real Mars data!
