New Brunswick Homeless Helpers was started in the winter of 2020 as a way to help those in need when supplies and resources were very limited during COVID. These past 3 years, we have been honored and humbled to serve as we made over 700 gift bags containing hand/foot warmers, water bottles, snacks, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, gloves, socks, hats, scarves, tissues, sleeping bags, and other supplies. We also have greatly appreciated the support from all of YOU, the wider community around us, who have so generously given your time and money to this cause so close to our hearts.
With that being said, the core committee (Claire McCarthy, Gerard Wietecha, and Natalie York) have discerned that our time with the Homeless Helpers has come to a close. We are happy that all of the pre-COVID resources for those without shelter in New Brunswick have opened back up, including a men’s shelter in our home parish, St. Peter’s.
The remaining money from our financial contributions has been used to cater meals for the men’s shelter and the rest will be donated to Elijah’s Promise in New Brunswick. The remaining products will be given out personally at the men’s shelter.
We really cannot thank all of you enough for your generosity throughout these past three years. It has been so inspirational to see this area of need fulfilled so generously and plentifully. You have answered our prayers and the call of our Lord, to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and give drink to the thirsty. You are in our prayers!
God bless you and thank you once again,
Claire, Gerard, and Natalie
