On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger of the Union Army arrived in Galveston, Texas to finally enforce the Emancipation Proclamation made by President Lincoln two years prior, which declared all enslaved persons in the United State's free. πŸ’›πŸ’šβ€οΈ
What began as Jubilee Day, Freedom Day, and 'Emancipation Day' in Texas is now "Juneteenth" - a federally recognized and nationally celebrated holiday to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States of America.

The celebrations started early today as the City of New Britain raised the Juneteenth Flag!
Attending a Juneteenth event is a valuable way to honor the holiday, support local communities, and expand your knowledge of the history and experiences that continue to shape our nation. CMHA offices will be closed in observation of Juneteenth, and we hope you will take time to reflect, learn, and participate in a way that resonates with you β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’š

June is Men's Health Month! πŸŽπŸ‹οΈπŸ§
While annual physicals, screenings, and regular exercise are important aspects of men’s health, mental well-being is equally critical to men's quality of life.
Just as the body needs care and attention, so does the mind. While men are nearly four times more likely to die by su***de than women, in a given year less than 15% of men will seek support for their mental health (CDC, National Health Interview Survey 2019).
