NHS-Gallery 66 Announces October Creative Youth Art Workshops Featuring Professional Artist Clinton Deckert and Community Partnership with McDonald’s
NEW BRITAIN, CT — NHS–Gallery 66 is excited to announce its upcoming Creative Youth Art Workshops, a free four-week Saturday art program designed for young artists ages 12–15. The workshops will take place October 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at NHS–Gallery 66, 66 W. Main Street in New Britain.
The October workshops will feature the talents of professional artist and instructor Clinton Deckert, who will guide participants through a variety of creative techniques while encouraging young artists to explore their individual talents and artistic voices.
Each three-hour session will focus on artistic skills including drawing, painting, mixed media, and traditional crafting. The program is designed to foster creative growth, self-expression, confidence and community engagement while providing youth with a safe and inspiring environment to create.
Building Community Through Art
A special part of this year's program is the continued collaboration between NHS-Gallery 66 and McDonald’s, which is helping make the workshops more accessible to local youth by providing meals for participating young artists during the program.
The partnership goes beyond providing meals. McDonald’s has also agreed to display artwork created by the youth participants in its restaurant, giving these young artists an opportunity to have the creativity recognized and celebrated outside of the NHS-Gallery 66 classroom.
“This partnership is a wonderful example of what can happen when local businesses invest in young people and the arts,” said NHS-Gallery 66 Manager and Curator Adrian Elliott. “The youth are not only learning from a professional artist and creating their own work, but they will also have an opportunity to see their artwork displayed in the community. That is an experience they can be proud of.”
Learn, Create and Be Seen
Having professional artist Clinton Deckert lead the workshops gives participants an opportunity to learn directly from an experienced working artist while developing their own skills and creative confidence.
The workshops are FREE, with art supplies provided and meals available through the Gallery 66 partnership with McDonald’s.
Space is limited, and registration is now open. Families are encouraged to register early before all available spaces are filled.
