Everyone deserves to feel welcome when they walk through our doors.

The New Brighton Community Center is proud to be recognized as a Safe Space Alliance location. That recognition reflects our commitment to treating every visitor with kindness, dignity, and respect. A community grows stronger when people know they belong. Sometimes that starts with a smile, a conversation, or simply making someone feel comfortable enough to come back.

Belonging doesn't end at the Community Center. It continues in our parks, trails, and playgrounds.

Features like accessible playgrounds, adult changing tables, adaptive recreation programs, and partnerships with organizations like Reach for Resources help more people enjoy everything our parks have to offer.

Every improvement is another opportunity for someone to play, explore, spend time with family, or try something new.

We're proud to continue building parks that welcome more people and create more opportunities to connect.

Every day, the New Brighton Community Center welcomes people of all ages and abilities.

You'll find toddlers discovering something new, teens gathering with friends, adults working toward fitness goals, older adults enjoying programs, and neighbors catching up over coffee.

Those everyday moments are what make a community stronger. They create connections, build friendships, and remind us that everyone has something to contribute.

The Power of Community - July is Parks & Recreation Month, and this year's theme, "The Power of...", celebrates the role parks and recreation play in bringing people together.

Every year, more than 540,000 people visit the New Brighton Community Center. They come to exercise, attend programs, volunteer, meet friends, or simply spend time in a place where they feel welcome.

This month is also Disability Pride Month, and Minnesota is proud to host the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Those reminders are reflected in the work happening here every day. Through partnerships like Rise, we've watched friendships grow, confidence build, and people find opportunities to connect.

You'll also notice things like sensory bags through KultureCity and, at times, caregivers assisting someone who needs extra support. They are small but important ways we help make sure everyone can participate with dignity and independence.
This Parks & Recreation Month, take a moment to say hello to someone new. A welcoming community starts with all of us.

Safe Space Available at the New Brighton Community Center

Due to the current air quality conditions caused by the northern Minnesota wildfires, New Brighton Parks & Recreation is opening a Safe Space for community members looking for relief from the wildfire smoke.

The space will be available in Room 100D from Thursday, July 16, through Monday, July 20, during regular Community Center hours.
A comfortable indoor space with tables, chairs, and water will be available for anyone who needs it.

We encourage everyone to monitor local air quality conditions and take appropriate precautions, especially those who are more sensitive to smoke.

Monday-Friday 5:00 am-10:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am-10:00 pm
Sunday 8:00 am-6:00 pm

It's a perfect evening for live music in the park!

Join us tonight at 6:00 pm at Veterans Park for a performance by Sawyer's Dream. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, gather your friends and family, and enjoy a relaxing summer evening filled with great music.
