Mr Smith won the election. I do not feel like I lost. I have met so very many wonderful people on this journey, learned tons about the budget, know much more about campaigning, and will use all of that knowledge for the benefit of many. I truly appreciate all of the support from people, those that took time to listen, and the lessons learned. I will be humbled and honored if people would continue to believe in me. I have learned enough to know that this is not the stopping point for me. What I know, what I have seen or heard, has made my resolve that much more firm. I as a citizen would like to believe that the challenge to the encumbants gives them some insight and clarity on spending the bond funds appropriately and that accountability is transparent. I for one will be monitoring this as best I can as a tax paying citizen.

You know when I grew up telling a half truth is still not the truth. Mr. Smith is stating that CISD has nothing to do with property values. That is true. To make a formula you require more than one variable. CISD does have control over the rate at which taxes are assessed. The $1.39 value just became a much larger amount. If any of you have received your tax appraisals, you can tell. So are they going to lower that $1.04 or $ 0.35 on our taxes. Which by the way the $0.35 could have been lower and they still could have made their bond repayments. My property value has gone up by about $30,000 in the past 2 years. Has yours gone up also? So if you choose to follow half truths, or not is the voters choice. You have to make a decision by May 9th. I vote for the truth. Those of you that want the whole truth repost this message.

I have met so many amazing people in my walking the community. I truly feel I can make a difference in the School District. Please take time out of your day to vote. Every vote counts. I am for fiscal responsibility so we can have sustainability and provide the best for our children. Remember BASS..Balance, Accountability, Sustainability, and Strategy. Some incumbent school board members have mentioned that CISD has been awarded with "Texas Comptroller Awards Comal ISD Platinum Leadership Circle Award for Financial Transparency. Please understand this recognition is for making the school budget available on the CISD website---not an award for excellent budget management. I appreciate CISD making the budget available online and have personally found it to be helpful.

As your school Board trustee, I am looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to not only managing the budget in a transparent manner; but also increase efficiencies in the budget.

Recently Mr. Smith has made statements to the media and others that lead people to believe that I am not an independent thinker and standing on my own personal platform. I believe it is unfortunate that he has chosen this as a tactic. Anyone who knows me, knows better. Is it because this is the first time this District has ever been contested and he cannot understand that I would like the opportunity to contribute to my community. I feel the areas that need attention, are not even being considered in the best interest of tax payers. At the recent board meeting I attended, it raised further concerns with budget issues.
I take exception to the fact that some current board members feel that no one else is capable.

They don't mention to tax payers what the current school debt is, which is over $4,000,000 and this bond will raise our indebtedness by about 31%. I have looked at the numbers and understand growth, we do need schools to accommodate that growth. I just believe that we can manage the Maintenance better. Their plan is to purchase technology, pay it off in 5 years, then what? If something is not done differently, we are going to be back at this same place in 5 years. Taxpayers are being stressed already in this current economic climate. I want fiscal responsibility and accountability. Comal ISD is following a state mandated curriculum, voted on by legislature. The testing mechanism has changed over the years. According to TEA, Comal ISD has done well academically for many years. We must be clear on what we are comparing. If you compare one test against another test, that is not equitable and can be deceiving. As a tax paying citizen I demand clarity, and if I have to run a Campaign to get those answers.... So be it!

Been walking most of the weekend. met some really awesome and informed persons in several subdivisions. I know I am passionate about what is happening with running for the position of Trustee for District 1. Looking forward to those engaging conversations with people. I just want the opportunity to make a positive impact on the future of this area.
The better education we offer our children the better our culture, quality of life, and the individual accomplishments that become the collective success of all.

Attended a forum sponsored by the PTA and was held at Canyon High School. It was a good experience. I enjoyed it. Good questions and very well organized.
