ANNOUNCING: CULVERT CHAOS ⚠️🚨

Starting tomorrow, we’re facing off eight of the most heinous culverts you’ve ever laid eyes on in our Culvert Chaos bracket.

Over the coming days, vote for the ugliest culvert in the West, Rockies, Midwest, and East as we narrow it down to the champion. On April 8, we’ll crown the ugliest culvert and reveal the winner’s before-and-after photos.

Don’t fret when you see these photos: TU staff and partners have worked to replace each and every one of these gems, resulting in the reconnection of watersheds across the country.

Mark your calendars for April 12th and join us for a day of conservation, community, and fly fishing! We’re kicking things off with the GRTU Spring River Cleanup, followed by a special Chapter Meeting featuring Pat Vanek of Bosque River Guides as our guest speaker.

Spring River Cleanup – Help Us Protect the Guadalupe!

We love our river, and this is our chance to give back! Join us from 9:00 AM to Noon at Lazy L&L Resort to help clean up the Guadalupe River and keep it a healthy habitat for trout and other wildlife. Volunteers will work together to remove trash and debris, making a direct impact on the waters we love to fish.

After the cleanup, stick around for our Chapter Meeting at Lazy L&L Resort, where we’ll hear from Pat Vanek, one of the top fly-fishing guides in Central Texas.

As the owner of Bosque River Guides, Pat is an expert on bass, carp, catfish, and drum fishing in Texas rivers. He’s also a skilled fly tier and educator, frequently presenting at fly shops and clubs statewide. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced angler, his insights will help you improve your technique and better understand Texas river fishing.

We are thrilled to welcome Pat Vanek as the GRTU Spring Chapter Meeting Guest Speaker on Saturday, April 12th from 1:00 - 3:30 pm AFTER the GRTU Spring River Cleanup.

Pat has been fly fishing the Brazos river tailwater below Lake Whitney, as well as other central Texas and Hill Country rivers for over 30 years. Over those years,he has learned by spending countless hours on the water, how to successfully find and catch the bass, sunfish, smallmouth bass, carp, channel cats, drum and other species on the fly. They all make great targets to throw a fly at.

Currently when not guiding, fishing, hunting, or tying flies, he’s home near Crawford with his wife and 18 year old triplets.He enjoys sharing his knowledge of fly fishing and tying with others, and teaching this great sport both on the water and off. He also enjoys giving fly fishing presentations to clubs and fly shops around the state and helping out with fly club or other local fly fishing and tying classes.

Topic: This presentation will focus on warmwater tips and tactics to successfully fly fish any Texas river or creek
