👏 Kudos to the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung for the excellent reporting!!👏 As mentioned in the article, our Comal County, Texas commissioners court made some significant improvements to their subdivision guidelines last week. These updated guidelines will help guide growth in the unincorporated areas of the county. This is a step in the right direction and we are grateful to our county leaders and the county staff for their efforts.

Working together is how we safeguard land, water, and wildlife in Comal County 🌳🌎🐢

Comal County Commissioners unanimously approved updated subdivision regulations Thursday, including changes to lot frontage, road construction standards, maintenance bonds and access requirements for some new developments.

Comal Conservation and our partners in the Hill Country Chapter - Texas Children in Nature Network are seeking a consultant to help us create and test our Jr. Ranger Activity Kit! STAFF UPDATE!!!!

We are so excited to announce our most recent addition to the Comal Conservation staff team! 👏 Please join us in welcoming Tiara Thompson as our Conservation and Outreach Intern for the summer! Tiara is a PhD student in the Aquatic Resources and Integrative Biology program at Texas State University. Her research focuses on drought communication, water literacy, and community stewardship in Central Texas spring systems. 🌳🌎🪻

Tiara is passionate about science communication, environmental education, and helping communities connect with the ecological importance of local water resources. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors near the water, spending time with her poodle Cruz, and traveling.

We are so grateful she has joined the team!

In honor of our Jensie Madden Comal Conservation award nominations opening, we checked in with Fischer Marlow, our 2025 award winner and why he is excited about his upcoming summer and this summer it’s all about sharing his love for the outdoors with the younger generation through his continued work in the community and teaching the next generation through local fishing camps and nature camps.

We are so grateful for our partnership with the Great Springs Project! 👏They are doing wonderful things to increase nature access and land conservation in Comal County. Ensuring that our community members especially our young people have access to the great outdoors is one of the most important environmental issues facing the Texas Hill Country. 🏕️ 🏃‍♂️‍➡️🚴‍♀️🚣‍♂️🧗‍♀️

The proposed Great Springs Project Bicentennial Trail would connect New Braunfels and Comal County to a more than 100-mile regional trail network stretching from Austin to San Antonio, linking spring systems, expanding outdoor recreation and supporting long-term conservation efforts across the Hill Country.
