We are so grateful for our partnership with the Great Springs Project! ๐Ÿ‘They are doing wonderful things to increase nature access and land conservation in Comal County. Ensuring that our community members especially our young people have access to the great outdoors is one of the most important environmental issues facing the Texas Hill Country.

The proposed Great Springs Project Bicentennial Trail would connect New Braunfels and Comal County to a more than 100-mile regional trail network stretching from Austin to San Antonio, linking spring systems, expanding outdoor recreation and supporting long-term conservation efforts across the Hill Country.

Hi Friends,

In April of last year Comal Conservation and our partners: Witte Museum, Texas Wildlife Association, GBRA, and Headwaters at the Comal launched a regional collaborative to connect more kids with the outdoors. This group known as Texas Children in Nature: Hill Country, is seeking help in developing a three year strategic plan that will guide the group and increase our collective impact. THE 2026 JENSIE MADDEN COMAL CONSERVATION AWARD NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

'WHO SHOULD I NOMINATE?'

This award was established as a way to recognize individuals or organizations in our community who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to environmental preservation.

LET ME EXPLAIN.

Comal Conservation understands that preservation of land and other resources in a rapidly developing county is difficult work that has many facets and no endpoint, only progress. Progress takes many forms, tangible and intangible, from the number of acres permanently preserved to key relationships formed to a greater understanding of the importance of conservation issues among county residents and their leaders. Therefore, the work and achievements of recipients of this Award may differ significantly from one another and yet be just as important.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JULY 30th, 2026.

Garry will provide an overview of the Great Springs Project, share his vision for a sustainable Hill Country, and highlight how a hike and bike trail from Austin to San Antonio gives Central Texas a unique opportunity to showcase their love for the springs that define their communities and celebrate the interplay between conservation and recreation.
