4th Wednesdays Schedule:
Before 6:30:
Be sure to look at the top of the sign in sheet - there will be a separate sign in sheet for (1) those who want to tell a story, another sign in sheet for (2) anyone who wants to listen, and a sign in sheet for (3) anyone who might choose to tell, if time allows. We are so glad you have chosen to spend your time with us! Remember you are free to leave early a
nd come late if needed. Walk in any time, but if you need to leave, try your best to do so between our short story performances. Everyone is welcome, and anyone under 13 is welcome, with an adult present. We welcome all ages, so if you are going to tell a story designed for a more mature audience, please let your audience know.
6:30: Announcements about future produced storytelling conferences, workshops, festivals, story slams, festivals, and other storytelling events
6:35: Possible Mini-Workshops, Special Works, Story Games, or Story Crafting Discussions (Sometimes the stories will start at 6:35 instead)
Story related presentations, workshops, story games, stories longer than 10 minutes and story-crafting presentations may happen before our story swap begins and should be set up in advance by speaking to a board member. These will usually take around 20 minutes or less.
7-8: Storytelling Performances
Silence cell phones & keep stories under 8-10 minutes, no minimum time- please refrain from reading. We will end on time thanks to gentle time keepers. We welcome stories of all kinds- but this is not a place for stories that alienate, lack tolerance, proselytize, or lack intercultural sensitivity. Above all we value all stories and want to hear different kinds of stories. If you hear a story you want to retell, ask the person who told it for permission or the source. This is about storytelling, but if you want to incorporate a visual, a prop, some music, or some poetry, that’s great. We have some talented storytellers, but do not be intimidated. Trust that this is a safe and encouraging place to hone your story crafting. Remember this is a supportive environment, a place for story crafting. Let us know what events you want to see in the future! What is your favorite story performance genre and what events would you want in New Braunfels? Storytelling Concerts? Conferences? Annual NB Storytelling Festival?
