🇺🇸 In Honor of the Fallen — Memorial Day 2026
This Memorial Day, the 4th Recon Veterans bow their heads in remembrance of those who gave everything — the Marines and Sailors of our community who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to this nation and never returned home.

They were sons, brothers, husbands, and fathers. They were teammates and friends. They ran toward danger without hesitation, trusted the man to their left and right, and carried out their duty with a professionalism and courage that words will never fully capture. They deserved long lives, and they gave those lives so that others could live theirs.

We also hold space today for those who did come home — but whose wounds, invisible and unrelenting, eventually took them from us too. They fought battles that didn't end when the deployment did, and they are no less our fallen. We carry them forward with the same love and the same honor.

To every Gold Star family connected to our community — your Marine, your Sailor, your loved one is not forgotten. They are spoken of. They are missed. They are honored today and every day.

We who remain carry the weight of their memory and the privilege of continuing to serve in their name. That is not a burden — it is a gift they left us.

Rest easy, brothers. We have the watch.

"Swift, Silent, Deadly" — and eternally honored.

Happy 250th Birthday to the United States Marine Corps

Today, we proudly honor 250 years of faithful service, courage, and sacrifice by the men and women of the United States Marine Corps. Since 1775, Marines have stood at the forefront of our nation’s defense — embodying the values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

To every Marine — past, present, and future — thank you for carrying forward the traditions that define our Corps. Your dedication and example continue to inspire us all.

Today, we honor the fallen heroes of the Fourth Reconnaissance Battalion—Marines and Corpsmen who answered the call with unyielding resolve and laid down their lives in defense of our nation. Their courage was not forged in comfort, but in the crucible of conflict—where silence, sacrifice, and brotherhood spoke louder than words.

We remember not only their bravery, but the burden they carried for us all. The missions they accepted, the risks they faced, and the ultimate price they paid echo through every generation of Americans who cherish freedom.

As we gather in remembrance, let us renew our commitment to their legacy. May we live each day with the purpose, grit, and honor that defined their service. Let their names be spoken, their stories be told, and their sacrifices never forgotten.

Semper Fidelis.

Patrick Anthony Marrin passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at the age of 55, in his hometown of San Antonio, TX.
Military Honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, on January 23 at 3:00 p.m. in Pavilion 4.
Immediately following, a Celebration of Life will be held at VFW Post 8541 at 2222 Austin Hwy. San Antonio, TX 78218

Born on January 30, 1969, to Katherine and Dennis Marrin, Patrick was a cherished son, devoted husband, loving father, and loyal brother. Growing up in San Antonio, he attended MacArthur High School, where he was known for his quick wit and easygoing nature.
Patrick's sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in 1st Bn, 4th Marines; 1st Bn, 9th Marines; and 4th Recon Bn, attaining qualifications as a small craft coxswain, safety swimmer, small engine mechanic, military parachutist, and subject matter expert on tactical-level amphibious operations. Additionally, he participated in Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom, always forward of friendly lines. His service as a United States Marine would shape his character and values throughout his life.
Patrick later married Sheri, and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Sydney and Sasha. The joy and pride he took in his family were evident to all who encountered the Marrin household. Patrick is also survived by his mother, Katherine, his father, Dennis, and his brothers, Edward and Kenneth. Each family member was touched by his kind and generous spirit.
Patrick had many accomplishments throughout his life. He received multiple medals and awards in his military service. His attention to detail and continuing education made him a valued employee at several Survey/GIS companies during his career, most recently at BGE. He also obtained his drone pilot license, among many other valuable skills.
Patrick's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He had a love for disc golf and was often found on the local courses with his Sunday morning disc golf group, enjoying both the competition and camaraderie. Patrick also enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family, ultimately loving the outdoors and the peace found in nature. Patrick enjoyed attending soccer games with family and friends. He also enjoyed all types of music, with reggae, ska, and punk among his favorites. Gaming was another outlet he enjoyed and another way to share his interests with others.
Those who knew Patrick would describe him as kind, funny, and intelligent with a humor that brought light into every room. His dad jokes and pirate jokes were always met with laughter, and his intelligence was matched by a profound kindness that he extended to everyone he met. In times of need, Patrick was the first to offer help, and his advice was sought after by many for its wisdom and insight.
As we remember Patrick, we are reminded of the words of Albert Einstein, "The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive." He gave so much to so many, asking for nothing in return.
Patrick's legacy is one of laughter, service, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire those he left behind. His influence will be felt at the disc golf courses he frequented, in the quiet nature where he hunted, and in the hearts of his family, who will carry forward his love, values, and sense of humor.
As we bid farewell to Patrick Anthony Marrin, we do so with heavy hearts and a profound sense of gratitude for the time we shared with him. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the enduring strength of familial bonds. Patrick's story is not one of sorrow but a celebration of a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
May he rest in peace, knowing that his life was one of purpose and impact and that he will be forever cherished in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to walk beside him on his journey.

On this special day, we stand united once more, honoring 249 years of service, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to our nation and Corps. It’s a day to reflect on the legacy of honor, courage, and commitment that binds us, from those who took up arms in 1775 to those who stand ready to defend freedom today.

As we celebrate, we honor the Marines who paved the way — their sacrifices and resilience built the foundation of strength and unity on which we proudly stand. To the Marines of past generations, your dedication and valor inspire us every day, and we are forever grateful for your service.
