🖤 Meet Zoot 🖤
Looking for a special family for a special boy 🐾

Zoot is a 6-year-old black Lab mix weighing around 72 pounds that is searching for a foster or forever home. He originally came from Crazy Love Pet Rescue as a puppy about 6 years ago and has been loved by his family ever since.

Sadly, due to divorce, financial hardship, and rental restrictions that no longer allow pets, his family can no longer keep him. This decision was not made lightly and is absolutely no fault of Zoot’s own.

Zoot is a happy-go-lucky boy that absolutely loves being near his people. He is affectionate, loves treats, loves to lick you to show affection, and is described as a loyal companion. He is crate trained, knows basic commands, waits patiently for food and doors, and does well at the vet office because he associates it with treats and attention. 🐶

He enjoys chew toys, snacks, baths, and being cozy during storms — usually hiding under blankets when thunder rolls in. He also has some funny little quirks, like being unsure about hats or faces being covered until he realizes who you are.

Zoot currently lives in a calmer home environment and would likely do best with someone willing to continue working with him, understanding his needs, and giving him structure, patience, exercise, and love.

He is up to date on DHPPL, Bordetella, and rabies vaccines, licensed with the City of Halifax, and currently located in Nova Scotia. Transport or meet-up options to parts of Canada, including New Brunswick and surrounding areas, may be possible for the right home.

Zoot does have skin allergies that require maintenance with proper food, medicated baths/shampoo, and occasional vet care to keep him comfortable.

Please note: Zoot does have some fear-based reactivity/fear aggression. His family has worked with him, and it has improved over time, but he will need an experienced, patient home willing to continue helping him succeed and feel secure.

Black adult dogs are so often overlooked, but Zoot still has so much love and companionship to give to the right person willing to give him a chance. 🖤
