The Newcomers Club of New Bern has welcomed thousands of residents to the area since 1987.

The Newcomers Club of New Bern welcomes individuals who have moved to the New Bern area in the past two years and are interested in finding a unique and fun way to make new friends and transition into this amazing and active community. Through monthly meetings and over 20 activity groups, the club provides an easy and fun way to make new friends and learn about this great community we call home. The club meets at 7 p.m., at the Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street, in New Bern, on the second Thursday of the month except in July, August and December. Click here for our full events calendar.The club's objective is to help newcomers transition into their new community. As a Club member, you will have opportunities to meet other newcomers and to learn about local resources and history. You must be a paid member of the club to take part in club activities, though if your are interested in joining the club, you do not have to be a paid member to check out a monthly meeting.

Pool Night at the New Bern Elks Lodge was held Wednesday, June 3rd. It was well attended. Some Newcomers came to socialize without playing pool, which is great! Our sister organization, the Alumni Group of Newcomers, celebrated spring on May 9 with an Olympic themed picnic at Fairfield Harbour. “Athletes” and spectators gathered for the games of the first AGN Senior Olympiad. Amid lots of great food and hilarity, competitors muscled their way through individual events including Alpine Skiing, Curling, Discus Throw, Canoeing, Speed Skating, and Balance Beam. Team events included Rhythmic Gymnastics and a grueling 20 yard Relay Race. The competition was fierce but ultimately 8 athletes, representing countries including Late Afternoon Nap, Tylenol, Hip Replacement, and AFIB, walked away with the coveted gold medals. Congratulations to all the winners and competitors!🥇

The Performing Arts group had a great evening out! The RiverTowne Players had a wonderful opening night of "9 to 5!" Eight of us went to dinner together, and 14 of us saw the play.

Performing Arts is one of the many activity groups we offer to help you meet folks with common interests if you've recently moved to the New Bern area.

Four fabulous Day Trippers gathered recently to give back to the community. They assembled food and hygiene bags for the little food pantry boxes you see scattered throughout the community. Even though we only had eight hands, we assembled an amazing nearly 30 individual food bags and 10 hygiene bags! We then stuffed four local pantry boxes with two hygiene and two food bags each. The remaining donation bags will be distributed to other food pantry boxes in Craven County or donated to Religious Community Services of New Bern, Inc. And we still had time to sip and gab for a while at Crema Brew afterwards!

What a fantastic kickoff to spring with our Daytrippers crew! 🌸
Twenty-two Newcomers joined us for opening day at the Beaufort Farmers Market, and it did not disappoint. We spent a leisurely morning wandering the market, discovering all kinds of gems—from fresh produce to handmade goods.

After visiting the market, we split up for lunch at Beaufort Grocery Co. and Moonrakers. Reviews were unanimous—both were winners! Great food, beautiful settings, and plenty of laughter. As always, the company was the best part, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Another memorable day with a wonderful group!

Daytrippers is one of many activity groups we offer to help newcomers meet friends and learn about their new home. If you've just moved to the New Bern area, we would like to welcome you!
