Behind the statistics, the headlines, and the conversations about human trafficking are real people—women who are working through what they have experienced and taking steps toward a different future.

Some days bring progress. Some days are harder.

Right now, we ask you to keep the survivors in our care in your prayers.

~Pray for healing where there is still hurt.
~Pray for strength when the next step feels difficult.
~Pray for courage to keep moving forward.
~Pray for hope when the future feels uncertain.
~And pray that each woman knows that her life has value, her story is not over, and there is more ahead.

We may not be able to share their stories with you, and that's intentional. Their privacy and dignity come first.

But we can ask you to remember them.

For 11 years, Traci Klein has poured her heart into the mission of True Justice, helping advance the work of bringing hope, healing, and restoration to survivors of human trafficking.

As Executive Director, her work reaches far beyond the walls of our organization. From coaching survivors and pursuing funding to building community partnerships, training professionals, and educating the public, Traci has dedicated herself to strengthening the response to human trafficking and ensuring survivors receive the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Over the years, she has shared her expertise with law enforcement, service providers, churches, and community organizations. She has helped bring critical conversations about exploitation and trafficking into spaces where awareness can lead to action. She has also worked alongside partners committed to protecting children and improving how vulnerable individuals are identified and supported.

Serving survivors in rural communities brings unique challenges, including barriers to accessing specialized resources and support. It also makes trusted relationships, local partnerships, and a committed community all the more important. Traci has continued to invest in those connections, helping build a stronger network of people equipped to recognize exploitation and respond with compassion and informed care.

But some of her most meaningful contributions may never appear in a headline or photograph. They happen through the time spent coaching survivors, the hours devoted to grant writing and fundraising, the relationships nurtured with supporters, and the prayers lifted for the organization and the survivors it serves.

Traci's leadership is grounded in her love for God and her heart for people. She brings both determination and compassion to a mission that requires courage, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to restoration.

Traci, thank you for 11 years of faithfulness, leadership, and service. Your investment in True Justice and the lives of survivors has helped shape this organization and the work it continues to do. We are grateful for your dedication, your heart, and the many ways you continue to serve.

Not everyone online is who they say they are.

A profile can look real. A conversation can feel genuine. And someone can spend weeks or months building trust before you realize their intentions aren't what they claimed.

Be cautious when someone online:

~Says they are someone they can't verify themselves to be
~Wants to move conversations private very quickly
~Asks you to keep the relationship a secret
~Pushes for personal information, photos, or your location
~Offers gifts, money, or favors in exchange for attention or access
~Pressures you to meet in person
~Tries to make you feel responsible for them or their emotions

Trust should never require you to ignore your boundaries or your safety.

Take your time. Protect your information. And remember that a connection online doesn't automatically mean you know who is on the other side of the screen.

Technology is changing the way trafficking can happen.

Social media, messaging apps, dating platforms, and newer technologies like AI can give traffickers more ways to find, contact, manipulate, and exploit people.

Technology can make it easier to:

~Create fake identities or impersonate someone
~Build trust with someone from a distance
~Manipulate images or conversations
~Move communication to private platforms
~Keep someone connected through constant messages and attention
~Exploit personal information shared online

Technology itself isn't the problem. How people use it matters.

That's why staying informed about the ways technology can be used for manipulation and exploitation is an important part of prevention.

The tools may change. The need to recognize manipulation, protect our boundaries, and stay aware doesn't.

Human trafficking doesn’t always involve physical force. Sometimes, the signs are much harder to recognize. Read this post from Shield NC to better understand what coercion can look like and why recognizing it matters. 💙

Coercion is one of three legal elements, alongside force and fraud, that define human trafficking under federal law. But “coercion” doesn't always look dramatic.

It can look like threats to report someone to immigration authorities. Threats to expose private information. Manufactured debt that never seems to shrink. Isolation from friends, family, or transportation. None of it requires physical restraint to meet the legal definition.

Understanding coercion this way, as a pattern of control, not a single dramatic act, is part of what makes trafficking harder to spot and more important to understand accurately.
