Update: The Bald Eagle release scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled due to the threat of inclement weather. Unfortunately, weather conditions affect if the release is successful or not. The release is tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, September 17 at 11am. Please stay tuned for additional information throughout next week.

The City of New Bern Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Wild at Heart Wildlife Sanctuary to release a bald eagle at Martin Marietta Park! Please join us on September 11th, 2022 at 11:00am to watch the eagle take flight!

The National Venturing Committee is excited to announce that the 2023 National Jamboree will offer a variety of special programs designed especially for Venturing, Sea Scouting and Exploring. We will “Lead the Adventure” from Subcamp D3, the specially-designated Subcamp for Venturers, Sea Scouts and Explorers. Your Crew will experience the exciting adventures the Summit offers and the fun and fellowship of more than a thousand Venturers, Sea Scouts and Explorers from around the country. Arbor Day was born during the late 1800s in Nebraska, the state once known as a treeless plain. In 1967, North Carolina’s legislature designated the first Friday following March 15 as the day our state would recognize Arbor Day. This year, March 18 is Arbor Day in North Carolina.
