FOP Tri-County Lodge #52

The North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police, Tri-County Lodge #52 is proud to announce our endorsement of Sheriff Chip Hughes for Craven County Sheriff.

The Office of Sheriff plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of all our citizens. A strong Sheriff sets the tone for a tough-on-crime culture that ensures that criminal offenders are held accountable. The people that we elect as Sheriff must commit to a proactive policing model and support the hardworking Deputies that fulfill that mission.

We proudly support Sheriff Chip Hughes and wish him the very best as he seeks to continue his service to the citizens of Craven County as their Sheriff.

🚔 North Carolina’s first responders deserve the ability to safely do the jobs they were sworn to do.

The North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police proudly supports Senate Bill 985 — the HALO Law — which provides a reasonable safety buffer to help protect first responders from intentional interference, threats, and harassment while they are actively serving our communities.

This legislation supports safety, accountability, and constitutional rights while helping officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders focus on protecting the public during dangerous and rapidly evolving situations.

Stand with those who stand for us. 🇺🇸💙

This lodge is extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Craven County Sheriff's Office and Craven County District Attorney’s Office for bringing this nightmare of an incident to a close. His actions that night left a horrific impact on the lives of the heroes involved; men and women that were simply protecting their community. This county is so much safer with this man behind bars and we owe our gratitude to the interagency cooperation that led us here.

Today, our hearts, minds, and prayers were with the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Nikki Koonce as she was laid to rest. Deputy Koonce served her community with honor, an unmatched compassion, and unwavering dedication. Her loss is felt deeply across our law enforcement family, and her legacy of service will not be forgotten. She was a great friend to many of us within this lodge.

May she rest in peace, and may those who loved her find strength in the weeks, months and years ahead.

We are sharing this on behalf of one of our members, whose son was severely burned in an accident. He is incredibly humble and would not ask for help, so another co-worker organized this gofundme portal. Please consider donating if you are willing. The source is fully vetted and is therefore endorsed by this Lodge.

As we begin to celebrate Christmas, those of us in the Law Enforcement community also want to pause to reflect upon the memory of New Bern Police Detective Don Miller, who gave his life in the line of duty on December 25, 2001.

The Fraternal Order of Police stands with his family, friends, and fellow officers today. We remain grateful for his service to New Bern and Craven County and the tremendous legacy he left behind.
