We are sharing this on behalf of one of our members, whose son was severely burned in an accident. He is incredibly humble and would not ask for help, so another co-worker organized this gofundme portal. Please consider donating if you are willing. The source is fully vetted and is therefore endorsed by this Lodge.

As we begin to celebrate Christmas, those of us in the Law Enforcement community also want to pause to reflect upon the memory of New Bern Police Detective Don Miller, who gave his life in the line of duty on December 25, 2001.

The Fraternal Order of Police stands with his family, friends, and fellow officers today. We remain grateful for his service to New Bern and Craven County and the tremendous legacy he left behind.

We are proud to share the success of yesterday’s Cops & Coats event! 🚔 🧥 This time, we partnered with Juneteenth of New Bern, Thompson Homes, Alderman Elect Sharon C. Bryant and City of New Bern, NC Police Department to make it happen. Thanks to the generosity of our community, children in our area received warm coats to help them through the winter season.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Mayor Jeffrey Odham, the New Bern Evening Rotary, and all of our local donors whose support made this possible. We also extend our gratitude to our partners for joining us in handing out coats and bringing smiles to so many young faces.

Together, we showed what can be accomplished when law enforcement and community partners unite for a common cause. 💙🧥 Happy Holidays!

To the Citizens of New Bern,

The North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police, Tri-County Lodge #52, proudly represents law enforcement professionals across Craven, Pamlico, and Jones counties. Our mission is to support officers, promote public safety, and advocate for leadership that strengthens our communities.

After careful observation of this election cycle, Tri-County Lodge #52 is honored to re-endorse Mayor Jeffrey Odham for re-election as Mayor of the City of New Bern.

Mayor Odham has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to:

• Transparency in governance, planning and communication

• Open collaboration with law enforcement and community stakeholders
• Dedication to public safety and the well-being of New Bern residents

Mayor Odham's track record reflects the values we uphold as an organization dedicated to service, integrity, and community partnership.

We are confident that Mayor Odham will continue to lead with vision, accountability, and a deep respect for those who serve this city. Tri-County Lodge #52 stands firmly behind his candidacy and encourages the citizens of New Bern to support his re-election.

We look forward to maintaining a strong and open dialogue with Mayor Odham as we work together to build a safer, more unified New Bern.

🚨BACK-TO-SCHOOL ALERT🚨 This morning we continued our partnership with Walmart New Bern and Juneteenth of New Bern to kick off our annual Shop With a Cop event! 🛒🚔 Members from City of New Bern, NC Police Department, Craven County Sheriff's Office and North Carolina Department of Adult Correction teamed up and helped our local kids pick out everything they would need to get back to school. A special thank our local donors and Walmart #1300 for making today’s event possible. This event is one of our favorites!

“The North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police, representing over 6,000 law enforcement officers, strongly supports House Bill 318, the Criminal Illegal Alien Enforcement Act.

This bipartisan legislation enhances public safety by requiring sheriffs to cooperate with ICE, expanding immigration status checks for serious crimes, and ensuring federal detainer compliance. HB 318 protects our communities and supports law enforcement’s mission to uphold the law.

We applaud Speaker Destin Hall for his leadership and the General Assembly’s passage of HB 318 that will make North Carolina safer.

We call on Governor Stein to sign this critical legislation to keep our communities safe.”

On behalf of all our members, Lodge 52 wishes to thank District Attorney Scott Thomas for the many years of service and dedicated support to our community. Throughout the years, Mr. Thomas has been a friend and mentor to many within our lodge, often making himself available far beyond “regular business hours”. We wish him the best as he transitions to a new chapter! Congratulations!

Tonight, our family is fortunate that we are celebrating the beginning of a recovery, and not grieving what could have been a crippling and devastating loss. The role our law enforcement undertakes is inherently dangerous; however, there will NEVER be any justification for acts of violence against our police.

This is the time for our downtown community members and businesses to begin seeking solutions to some of the problems it is facing. This is best accomplished through partnerships and dialogue amongst local businesses, citizens, and local government. Anything less, including the shifting of blame and responsibility upon others, is a despicable slap in the face to all the people tasked with protecting it. Our priority as a community should always be the life and safety of others.

We wish our officer a speedy and full recovery!
