Black History Month reminds us that courage and change doesn’t always come from adults — sometimes it comes from children🩷

In 1960, Ruby Bridges, just six years old, walked into an all-white school escorted by U.S. marshals. She faced hatred, isolation, and fear simply because she believed in her right to an equal education. Her bravery became a defining moment in Black history and a powerful reminder that education has always been a battleground for equity.

Years later, that same spirit showed up right here at home.

Our Little Sister Circle helper/volunteer Rye’Lea (7yrs old) stood in a packed, standing-room-only auditorium and requested to speak before the Craven County Board of Education. With confidence beyond her years, she advocated against the proposed closure of J.T. Barber — speaking not just for herself, but for her classmates, her school, and her community.

Different generations. Different challenges.
But the same legacy.

Black history is not only what we read in textbooks ….it is what we witness when our children use their voices to demand fairness, access, and dignity. From Ruby Bridges to Rye’Lea, the fight for educational equity continues, carried forward by our youth who refuse to be silent.

This is Black History🖤❤️💚

Yesterday, Sister Circle NC had an amazing time with the kids and staff at Lyfe3, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and enriching the community through innovative programs, hands-on learning, and meaningful experiences. Their commitment to helping young people grow, thrive, and lead truly shines through everything they do.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to Lyfe3 Tammie Dean for their kindness, generosity, and continued support throughout this year. We are grateful for the impact you make and for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful experience.

💜Sister Circle NC Gives Thanks by Giving Back💜

This Thanksgiving, Sister Circle NC was blessed with the opportunity to provide Thanksgiving food boxes to three local families right here in Craven County.

With the loving support of two of our beautiful local Health Department social workers, we were able to deliver hams, turkeys, full holiday sides, desserts, and gift cards to ensure each family could enjoy a warm and abundant holiday meal.

A huge thank you to everyone who helps make moments like these possible. Together, we continue to pour love, support, and hope back into our community.
