NC Guardian ad Litem District 4 District 4 is comprised of Carteret, Craven, and Pamlico counties. NCGAL Staff recruits, screens, trains and supervises child advocates.

The NC Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program is a state-wide program that equips community volunteers to serve abused and neglected children by advocating for their best interests in court. Established by statute in 1983, the NC Guardian ad Litem Program (NCGAL) has been serving abused and neglected children for more than 30 years through a team representation model. A GAL child advocate is a trained community volunteer who is appointed, along with a GAL attorney advocate, by a district court Judge to investigate and determine the needs of abused and neglected children petitioned into the court system. Could you step in and speak up for a neglected or abused child in court? Could you spare a few hours a week to help build a child's future? We're seeking volunteers! Start the application process today by visiting our website (www.volunteerforgal.org).

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures who show up with love, guidance, and support in so many different ways. Today we celebrate not just biological fathers, but also foster fathers, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and anyone who helps nurture, protect, and uplift children. We see many different fathers through the GAL program, and today we celebrate you all! 💙💙

Juneteenth is a day to celebrate freedom while also remembering the struggles and resilience of Black Americans.

Why we celebrate: On June 19th, 1865, freedom finally arrived for the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in Texas. It was on this day, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, that the Union army arrived in Galveston to announce and enforce freedom in the Westernmost confederate state.
